I had to file a one time US tax return to get a refund due to some tax being with held on the sale of some stock. I contacted Alanna and provided all the specific details of what I needed and she responded saying we should setup a paid initial consultation to discuss. I said I don’t think it’s needed as I’ve been pretty clear but if that’s required we can. She then said we didn’t need it and set a price for the refund. I paid that and then she asked for all the info which was just a repeat of what I’d already provided.

I then heard nothing for a while. With the tax return deadline approaching I reached out and then got a response saying they’ll lodge for and extension. I finally got a draft of my return and none of what I’d asked for had been followed. I challenged it and was told the return I was asking for was not possible which I disagreed with. She then asked for heap more info and said she’d process it if I provided all this extra info including years worth of stock history. But she said it would likely not go through. I then switch accountants. They processed my refund quickly with the info I provided and I got a very sizeable return exactly as expected. I am still chasing for a refund for the services not rendered.
