I initially wrote a SHORT 1-star review, "Really poor responsiveness. I was going to give them my file and they were just consistently unresponsive in a timely manner and I decided to go with a different notary."

The business responded to my review with a dishonest and misleading defense -- keep in mind the way these people practice when deciding whether to hire them, because when it comes to legal matters, you could get into some trouble if you are utilizing dishonest or misleading material.

They claimed that the issue is that I wrote to the office during the weekend and "we processed your request within reasonable period of time". That is just not true. I was closing on a purchase of a condo and found that there was a builder's lien on the building. I emailed them over the August long weekend, letting them know subject removal was 2 business days after the long weekend (Wednesday evening), and I needed to know if it was safe to remove subjects and proceed with purchase.

They did not respond to my email ALL of Tuesday. I called multiple times, no answer. I called on Wednesday morning and the receptionist apparently hadn't even seen my email, I had to walk her through finding it, and she said she would forward it to the notary to respond. All of Wednesday I didn't get a response and nobody answered when I called back repeatedly. Finally, around 3pm in the afternoon, I called a different notary's office, explained the situation, and asked about the builder's lien. The receptionist said her notary was with clients but she would ask her to solve this query urgently. They called me back within 5 minutes and explained that the builder's lien was a benefit/protection, not a charge, and it was safe to remove subjects.

And still, there was NO RESPONSE from Uptown Notaries and Nazirah Premji. And this is after I filled out all their intake, so I was very much confirmed as their client. Ultimately I decided to go with the other notary that could answer a SIMPLE QUESTION within 5 minutes instead of leaving me hanging for two days and letting me risk expiry of my purchase without subject removal.

I will also add, the Burnaby office is equally horrible with their communication. I sent an email to the receptionist on July 16 and followed up a few times with no response, then July 22 connected with the New West office instead and got a faster response, with still ZERO response from the Burnaby office to those emails.

If you want an unresponsive notary, it's your funeral with the legal liabilities that come from that.

Even though my friend warned me not to go here because she had a bad experience, I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. Well she was right!
They bungled the pay off of our condo mortgage so I ended up using a different notary for the purchase of our new condo. Our old mortgage company was not impressed with Uptown Notary and agreed to take the remaining money owed on the mortgage straight from our account so I wouldn't be charged for sending it to them and neither of us would have to deal with this company again. This happened last summer/fall, we moved Nov 6, 2024.

Her professionalism and expertise is incomparable. My experience with her was beyond my expectations compared to others I have dealt with. She patiently took the time to reassess , listens attentively, advises, gives further info and coordinate in detail the preparation of my will. She’s also very kind and supportive. It was not just a piece of generic piece of paperwork to get signed ,done and over with. Her fee is reasonable.
I will not hesitate to seek her services again if needed in the future. She’s highly commendable and respectable.
