Met with Kathleen in March 2024. In June, I hadn’t heard anything from Kathleen nor her assistant Jacki except the one time I called and spoke to her when she told me she was “busy closing a real estate deal@, I’m was a family law case, and she told me she would call me back in 20 minutes. I never heard back from Jackie. I continued to send emails asking the status of my case and never heard back from either Kathleen nor Jacki. On the eighth week, I asked for a refund of my retainer since they did absolutely nothing on my case and I still didn’t heard from them for another week. Had to make a phone call to the office manager to tell them if I didn’t hear back from someone for over 7 weeks & I would be reporting them to the AB Law Society if someone didn’t reply to me. That got me a response in one day, and I had my retainer refunded the next day. I’m blown away at these law Offices that take money, make you wait to find out what kind of action will be taken and then continue to ignore request for updates. I was baffled by the service or lack there of. If you don’t want to do the work, don’t take money and make clients think you actually want to help but DO NOTHING! Horrible, & in my case, NO worthwhile legal services.

Am having trouble rating Mr. King with even one star. To sum it up, if you require legal services other than challenging a traffic ticket or closing a straight forward house sale, I’d advise you to seek representation elsewhere. My 96 year old father hired Mr. King to protect him from a step-son who tried relentlessly to rob him of his home and savings account over an 8 year period. He employed Mr. King from 2015 to 2023, and after paying $60,000.00 in legal bills, there was little accomplished. Instead, Dad was left with a long history of unreturned phone calls, months without any updates and a display of outright incompetence and unprofessionalism. When Dad’s health finally deteriorated to a point where he was nearing the final stage of his life and all his legal woes were still overshadowing him with no progress in sight, we were able to convince Dad to cut his ties with Mr. King. We immediately hired a new lawyer who was able to wrap up Dad’s legal issues in only a few months time at an hourly rate significantly less than Barry’s. Our family felt a strong obligation to report our case to the law society, but after losing Dad to a prolonged debilitating illness and with 8 years of riding an emotional rollercoaster, we just weren’t up for the fight. Instead, we walked away, thankful to be free of our dealings with Barry King and glad our 8 years of legal battles were finally over. I am writing this at the request of my Dad, who passed away in December, 2023.

Had a great experience with Strathcona Law Group. Linnea and Margaret helped me with my separation from my ex-wife. Everything went surprisingly quickly, despite it being during the height of the COVID lockdown. Since I know nothing about legal stuff, they were very patient explaining everything to me and got back to me quickly with any questions I had. Looking forward to going back in a few months to finalize the divorce. Will definitely recommend!

Went for a meeting with Kimberly. The person at the front desk was very polite, and seated me in the spacious, and clean, conference room. My meeting was delayed, slightly, and I was almost immediately greeted by another employee, who started my appointment in Kimberleys stead. Kimberly arrived shortly after, and was very professional. She was very knowledgeable and informed of my contracts, and explained them to me in easy to understand terms, while also giving me the time to read them myself, and explaining any terms or phrases I was not clear on.
I was directed to contact Kimberly and her team at Strathcona Law Group from a previous customer, and I was not dissapointed.

I hired Katherine Palmer to help with a very complicated gaurdian/trusteeship case for my special needs daughter. She asked if I wanted her to move forward I of course said yes, I sent all paperwork she requested. I had not heard a word so sent a email asking if she recieved it, no reply. I called and emailed her assistant Lori again no response. I left Katherine a desperate voice mail as we are on a time crunch again no reply. She told me to dispose of all previous paperwork that she would be taking care of it all including calls to do with case. So now we sit no lawyer,no paperwork, time running out. She has put us in a horrible legal situation. My daughters well being is always my first concern I thought I found a lawyer who felt th same only to be ignored and pushed aside.I would never recomend this firm, such a unproffesional cold hearted way to treat a family desperate family in need.

Well i was referred to them from a friend speaking very highly of them so i needed a real estate lawyer. I did not know any other place i should go.

I cannot say the same for the other two lady’s that were supposed to take care of my deal.
I had to call a week before possession to say these are the days i am available hoping to have them schedule me in.
The two days i have off come and no call no nothing. I call them. They say. O i just got your paperwork. I say thats weird cus i been speaking emailing for a month now. Anyway i get an appointment for the next day. House possession is 4 days away.

READ HERE. They email me ONE hour before appointment on what to bring. I am walking out of my house to go to appointment. And i see i need a BANK DRAFT! This is something that could have definitely been communicated well in advance. Not one hour before my appointment that i cannot miss and tell me all this stuff i should have. Insurance for house. Bank draft. ID.
Talk about leaving a PAYING CUSTOMER last minute bull to try and get bank draft and everything. They did say you can drop it off before closing BUT i also said i only have two days off. Shift working doesn’t allow for daytime face to face banking. Anyway. I would try someone else for sure next time. I was stuck last minute and couldn’t go anywhere else. But i sure wanted to use a different law firm.

October UPDATE
it appears that my paper work was late. From the mortgage brokers and such. And now they kindly sent me an extra bill to off set their rushed time to get my paperwork done on time. This was shortly after they nicely apologised for my interaction and sent me a few gift cards.
Just seems weird. Sent out gift cards. Then a month later they send me an extra charge for paper work rush. Not cool at all. But thats what happened.

They did ask if i could update or remove my review as well. But i thought this is my experience and if anyone wants to take the time to read this then that would maybe help them in selecting the right law group for their intended services.
