My girlfriend and I are visiting Salt Spring for a few days. We went to the visitors center in search of hikes and activities around the island. Joan and Elaine were two of the most helpful people we have met so far. Gave us amazing recommendations and shared great stories from their travels around the island. They went above and beyond and have us recommendations for not only Salt Spring but the rest of the island. Absolute delights!

You should never go to Salt Spring Island or any other of the Gulf islands for that matter they are some of the most unwelcoming places to outsiders unless they're robbing you blind. I've lived here for 2 years and it is a well-known fact among locals that they will overcharge anyone who is not a local and treat anyone who hasn't been a local for over 10 years like they're dirt.

Generally a bad place all around and you should not support its economy in the slightest.

Helpful volunteers run this place. Very central location. They're super about hanging posters and distributing flyers for Chamber members. When it's empty, you'll get quick service from knowledgeable locals. Sometimes, though, both volunteers will be focused on another customer, and you may need to wait until one notices you and breaks away from the conversation.

It's so heart-warming when you land up in a new place and the people just blow your mind with their jovial nature and empathy. Hats off to the volunteers who work here! They have made a long-lasting impression on me.

That aside, great information and detailed brochures available for travellers. You should visit this centre without fail when you come to Salt Springs.

Great staff here. Too bad we will never return to Saltspring because of several bad and dangerous drivers on the roads. We were travelling by bike and too many cars were passing on the crest of hills or when oncoming traffic was present. Some were passing dangerously close to us at high speed. I do not recommend cycling on this death trap island.

Very helpful ladies manning the counter here. We were inquiring about the Salt Spring flag, and they quickly were asking other people to get us the answer (which is in Victoria, by the way). They will undoubtedly be able to answer whatever Salt Spring questions you have.
