They were working on a case for my wife, the lead lawyer left and our files were transferred to another lawyer in the firm; we had to spend more money bringing that lawyer up to speed. Ethan offered to step in and help and a small discount was offered.
I had an employment dispute and hired Ethan to take on my case. After providing a retainer and spending $425 on a consult Ethan sent me this message: "We confirm that after conducting a consultation, we were of the preliminary view that the
termination proposal put forward by your former employer could be improved upon through
negotiation. Unfortunately, shortly after agreeing to act on your behalf, we advised of our
concern that we may not have the bandwidth to be able to service your file appropriately and, as
such, we provided a suitable referral."
I wrote them stating my displeasure with this charge, highlighting that we had been working with them a long period of time and how is that all of a sudden they no longer had the bandwidth, after taking a consultation fee and retainer. They refused to refund me the $425 and I lost four weeks of time dealing with my severance issues.
We immediately moved my wife's case to a different firm, a more professional and honest firm.
