Mike’s Reflective Mediation is exactly what we needed. Mike was patient, empathetic and vastly knowledgeable. His experience and insight around the separation and divorce process was indispensable; but more importantly his skill and diligence with helping us work through the emotional, financial, practical nuances and sticking points was absolutely critical. In all honesty, couldn’t have done this without him. After having gone through the process with Mike, I wish more people would take advantage of a non adversarial mediation approach. I can’t imagine doing it differently.

I found Reflective Mediation online while searching for mediators that would work with a collaborative approach. We wanted a more cost-effective and timely solution than lawyers and courts, so mediation was our first choice. After an introductory call, we felt comfortable that this was a good fit for our needs and we pushed ahead. We were not disappointed. Mike and Dena worked with us to wade through both the technical details and emotional hills with skill and organization. I found Mike to be impartial, fair, and knowledgeable. They were empathetic, organised and even firm when they needed to be. A living, online Google doc is available as mediation progresses for all parties to research between sessions so you can come to each meeting prepared, comfortable, and ready. The scheduling platform is easy to navigate, and they were understanding when we had to cancel one meeting due to a medical situation. Here are my words of advice to anybody going down this path: 1) do your research between sessions, do the work. If you read the document template, research the issues, and come prepared, Mike and his team will make a lot of sense. Most importantly, you will save time, frustration, and money; 2) book meetings in batches ahead of time. You can always cancel future meetings as your schedules change. This gives everyone a clear idea of when to be ready, really smoothing the path forward; 3) Read and re-read the document you are creating at every step of the way. Add notes, request clarification, revisit issues if you need to. Make sure your expectations are clear, and both interpretations of the contract is alike; 4) Compromise is not loss. If you get something, give something. Be reasonable in your expectations, especially if kids are involved. They aren't weapons; 5) Be respectful of one another. There is always one person who can bring the situation back to Earth... be that person if you can. Best of luck in your choice. It's not easy, but you're not alone. Mike is very rapid at understand difficult situations. He works very well in a group. He had a very very difficult situation to deal with in my situation but still managed to navigate it. His integrity was also impeccable as he had to quit in our situation when he could not be impartial (like I mentioned, my situation was more than difficult). His life experience also makes him particularly good in order to deal with difficult people. He works very well with lawyers as well.
