I started coming to see Kim around 5 years ago. Not only is she a brilliant woman, but I was also always extremely impressed how quickly she could get to the root of any issue I was dealing with.
At the time, I was going through one of the most difficult times of my life. Kim helped me see things clearly and she always offered very effective advice.
I always left Kim's office feeling peace, clarity, and confident about what to do. Kim is compassionate, genuine, kind, insightful, knowledgable & extremely good at what she does. I went to Kim for divorce mediation It went poorly. I didn’t realize how bad it really was until I dealt with a professional (lawyer-based) mediator in Calgary.
Finances – all finance discussion were based on what the other party said, but no requirements for proof from something like income tax documents. Thusly, resolving anything about finances did not happen as there was no need to work with the real numbers, just whatever the other party said. When this caused conflict, she did not ask for income tax docs or anything… Just said we need to discuss something else for a while. At the lawyer-based mediator I dealt with in the city, all finance discussions were based on income tax documents, which makes it a lot smoother and reality based. It also resolves the grey areas – one is forced to discuss the real numbers, not what they wish the numbers were.
In the sessions with Kim, there are no ground rules about appropriate behaviours. There is no intervention when one party chooses to be unconstructive or inappropriate. I attempted to discuss my concerns about these behaviours, but she was unable to discuss prior to the next session, and then expected that I pay for a councelling-type session to do this. At the lawyer-based mediator in Calgary, this is a basic ground rule, and they intervene – without request from either party – when this arises.
When Kim realized that she was in over her head, she sent a termination email less than a hour after I paid her several hundred dollar for the services. She provided no summary. When I emailed her to question this, she did not reply. Again, at the lawyer-based mediator in Calgary, a summary is sent out after every session – and it should be, to give both parties documentation of what has been resolved.
