Kirsten Madsen is an excellent lawyer. I felt confident in my choice every step of the way. She most definitely helped me reach a fair settlement. Her assistant Cory is amazing as well. She is so organized and was always available for questions etc. Both Kirsten and Cory are kind souls and incredibly competent. Most definitely recommend.

The WORST lawyer I have ever had represent me. She moved to Nanaimo back in 2013 and said she’s the “real deal” from Vancouver. She complained about everything running on “island time”
She did very little work on my case and got a good payday from my savings account. Shortly after the first and last court appearance she quickly sided with the other parties legal aid representative and made a quick deal with the judge.
She barely did anything and gouged me over $5000.00. Not only did this cost me a fair amount of money, these terrible results have costed me fair and just parenting time with my daughter for the past nine year.
A few weeks after that first and last appearance in court, I receive another bill stating I still owe over $600 The firm sent me a breakdown of costs and took the retaining fee as well. The breakdown was not accurate at all.
She charged me for a full hour for a phone call which was only 25 mins long, costed me almost $300 for that 25 min call.
Maybe this lawyer needed money from her recent move to the island but gouging your clients pockets to put a new couch into your new office isn’t reasonable.
One time I received a call from Kirsten’s secretary for a payment and lost my cool and asked the secretary to put Kirsten on the phone. Kirsten finally came onto the speaker phone and I explained to her and the secretary that I never in my life went to a restaurant or fast food place and paid for a cold burger. I then went on to say I usually get a refund when I’m not happy with the service or food.
I then said “your burger is cold, I ain’t paying for a cold burger.” Referencing that I was not happy with her service.
One good thing out of this was I didn’t pay the remaining balance that was clearly unjust.
As you all can tell, I’ve been waiting a long time to write this accurate review.

After 2 different lawyers, tens of thousands of dollars spent, and three long years of losing in family court I have finally found a Lawyer that cares about what is right more than she does about money. Brenda and her team have done a spectacular job so far with my case. Being a father and fighting for 50/50 is not as easy as it should be. Often you are looked at and treated as an ATM in an archaic court system. If you are looking for an honest Lawyer who cares and will shoot you straight Park Place Law is the place to find one.
