I had an excellent experience purchasing a new vehicle at North Star Ford. Brent Mackay helped us with test drives of various Lincoln and Ford vehicles. He took the time to provide us detailed cost breakdown highlighting various cost saving incentives and helped us understand the total cost of ownership for each vehicle. This detailed breakdown helped us finalize a deal within a short time frame and we are very happy with the new vehicle! On pick up day, the vehicle was washed, detailed, and prepped with a nice bow.

After a few attempted deals with other dealerships we phoned North Star - and we had amazing service right from first call, to driving away in my new F150 Lariat! Our sales representative Nicole worked with us to purchase our 'unicorn' perfect truck, and help us fit it into our budget. She accommodated our busy work schedules, making several calls late into the evening and sending paperwork via email whenever requested. Thought we had a deal in place 3 times, just to find out each time that there was an issue.
The first one they ended up quoting me a price just to find out in finance that they made a mistake and now the payment was of course higher. Fine, we worked out another deal just to find out they made another mistake which of course would make my payment higher so I had to back out of that deal. They did honour the original agreement so I thought we had a deal in place finally. Then we go to pick up the new truck, get nice pictures taken with it and then in finance I find out there was yet another mistake. This last one was a deal breaker, so back to the parking lot I go to sit on the phone with my insurance company to put insurance back on the truck I was supposed to have left there while also trying to cheer up my kids that we’re now discouraged as well. Now, I get people make mistakes but it was a pretty discouraging experience and it’s funny how the mistakes never work in your favour. Not to mention the amount of wasted time for all of us.

I had a vehicle at another dealership in town on order that was not going as planned. So I decided to check out the 2025 Explorer. I loved everything about this vehicle.

Chantelle listened to everything I was looking for and secured the vehicle right away. Within a week and a half my new 2025 Explorer was here and ready to be picked up.

I really appreciated how she kept me in the loop through every step of this process. If I had a question I could send her a quick text and I would get a response within a few minutes.

The rest of the team was super welcoming, friendly and easy to deal with.

absolutely horrendous experience using the service dept at the confed location. wish i could give negative stars

June 24, 2024 i dropped my 2017 Raptor off for 3 issues. valve cover leak, sunroof leak, and a horrible noise coming from the fans. Emma was great to deal with for the most part. i showed her videos of the truck making the noise from the fans and told her how the issue could be replicated. anyway, apparently they couldn’t find the issue and was told to book the truck back in for the issue for a second time while they ordered the parts for the valve cover. alright no problem, that was fine.

July 2, 2024 i dropped the truck back off for the valve cover gasket replacement and explained once more how to replicate the issue with the fan. zero communication on my vehicle this day, so when i went to pick up i asked what they found. “oh your advisor didn’t call you?” was the response. i received no call or text that day other than my vehicle was ready for pick up. On the paperwork it said the tech said “no concern, customer is hearing secondary fans engaging.” so i once again showed them the videos that it was most definitely a concern and not just the secondary fan kicking on. the lady at the desk told me if it was doing it when i went to leave to just leave it there again. i knew it wouldn’t do it after sitting at day not driven, so i took it home.

July 4, 2024. Truck made the horrible noise AGAIN but this time it stayed on for about 15 minutes straight and didn’t fade away like it usually did. took it back AGAIN. drove it straight into the drive and let multiple advisors listen to the noise after them telling me “yeah that’s not normal” lol this time it was Diana that i was dealing with.

July 7, 2024. received a call from Diana saying it was the CAC fan and that it was covered in mud and the fan blades were BROKEN so it needed replacement and that my third party warranty wasn’t going to cover it. i asked for pictures of the apparent mud found, as well as the broken fan blades as my truck does not leave the highway, she went on about how it’s 7 years old so it probably just built up over time. so now i’m confused? was it mud built up or was it because it’s 7 years old that caused the failure? she could’ve provide me with the pictures and stated the tech had already cleaned the mud off (lol) she also informed me there’s no way to prevent this from happening again. it’s a truck, of course it’s going to get dirty especially after the month of rain we had in ft mac previous to this issue happening. she stopped replying to me over the text app after i asked that. couldn’t get a reply through the text app or through her phone number.

July 11, 2024. the morning my truck was scheduled for this 1200$ repair that apparently can’t be prevented. it was almost impossible to get a hold of Diana as i still haven’t heard what my warranty said, she FINALLY called me back around 9:30am-10am and bluntly said they denied the claim due to abuse because of mud. i then had to call another service advisor, emma i believe it was again, that i was speaking with. since i had to pay out of pocket i let her know i had a discount with my company for parts, no problem there as she was kind and apologized since i was very frustrated.

later that day, i picked up my truck. i had asked the lady at the desk again to double check the discount was added and she got very annoyed with me and told me to have a seat because this was going to take her awhile to add this discount that “i should have told her about” sure, i don’t mind waiting to save myself a few dollars. paid for the service and as i was leaving, they laughed and told me to stay out of the mud now. Extremely unprofessional of them to make comments like that. i asked for the old part to be put in my vehicle, the fan blades were NOT damaged or broken as Diana had told me. there was dirt on it as there would be from regular road debris, especially in rain. i am less than pleased with the service i got from both the techs here and the service advisors.
