We are newcomers to Canada and needed advice regarding the Non Resident Speculation Tax. Before we start the house buying process we have to make sure we have the correct documentation to avoid this tax because we don't have an extra $200,000 to give to the CRA.

I called at least half a dozen law firms and left voicemail messages. No one would even return my call. I asked a realtor friend to recommend a law firm that could help me. I called that firm, they were expecting my call. They never returned my call or my email.

Then I called Derek Truelove at Nesbitt Coulter. He promptly returned my call, asked several questions and got me complete response soon after. Obviously we will be using their firm when we purchase our home.

This 5 star review is for Derek Truelove. He is very knowledgeable. We recently bought our first home and he made that closing very easy, quick and smooth. We didn't even have to worry about anything being a first time home buyer and new to all this stuff we were scared and had very little information about everything but he did keep us posted abouts process and made sure that our questions are being answered right on time. We didn't even have to follow up he always kept us upto date. The charges that we paid for everything was very reasonable. We were relaxed after we talked with Derek and knew that we are in good hands. I would highly recommend to deal with Derek for all legal purposes. He is too good in explaining stuff and he will never let anyone down. He is just amazing. Thanks Derek for making our first home closing process so simple, easy and quick.
