Obtained Mr Therrien's services for our mortgage and house purchase. The main challenge in dealing with Mr Therrien is his lack of follow-up and communication. I found it to be bad customer service having to always initiate the calls myself and follow up on the status of the various files after weeks or months of not hearing from his offices. Admittedly, I'm sure some of the institutions he had to deal with had equally long wait times but that doesn't mean he too needs to keep his customers in the dark.

Some other issues we encountered include him suggesting it was okay to transfer our down payment a week before closing when we were ready to do so a month prior and then of course running into a problem with the transfer and having to rush everything at the last minute.

And lastly, for the mortgage release we were initially told that the fees might already be included because we had previously done our mortgage with Mr. Therrien. Sadly, we should have gotten that in writing and maybe notarized 😉 We ended up paying another $600 on top of the original $1900 we originally paid for the mortgage, deed of sale, etc.

In the future I will likely go with a different notary to avoid these unnecessary issues. Hopefully these comments will be taken as constructive criticism by Mr Therrien to help improve his customer experience.
