I recently sold my condo and cannot thank McLean Legal for their wonderful, prompt and professional assistance in making such a stressful experience so much easier. The lawyer I dealt with, Lisa D’Haese, is a wealth of knowledge and so friendly and helpful with any questions I had. I would also like to thank the Legal Assistant, Kelly Fast, for all her help and assistance as well. I would highly recommend McLean Legal to anyone looking for a law firm who gives caring, efficient service in such a quick and professional manner.

Stay away from this firm as far as possible. I found this firm through Google and trusted public reviews, but my experience was completely different. I worked with Lisa D'Haese and her assistant, Amber. Let me explain my experience in some points:

1. For a service or money being paid in advance as a Retainer, they just throw a number at you without any logic. When I first called them in the middle of summer, the quote I was given was $1,500 for a very light legal document. I got busy and could not proceed at that time. 2-3 months later, when I reached out and asked for the same service, they gave me a quote of $3,000 (double of their own quote from a few months ago). Finally, after mentioning that they had given a way lower quote before, we settled on $1,500. To me, it was very unprofessional to have such a huge range of quotes for a fairly simple legal paperwork.

2. The way they treat you as a customer is AWFUL. I am a professional consultant and totally understand the service business. I had an initial meeting with Lisa which was fine, and I was told what information she needed from me. After sending an email with all the required information, Lisa did not care to reply to my emails at all. I also sent a follow-up email a week later and did not get any attention again. Her assistant only told me that she was going to check with her and get back to me, which she did not do. It was a very unique experience for me as you usually expect the service provider to reach out to you and initiate communication, but in this case, I was chasing my lawyer and she was ignoring me.

3. After 2 weeks of zero response from Lisa, I terminated our engagement and her assistant only apologized for the “delayed response”, which in fact was “no response”. I got my retainer money back quickly, but they still charged me for 1 hour of a consulting session.

I do not want to think about why this happened or what their situation was. The part that bothers me the most is that they did not communicate with me at all and ignored my emails. Meanwhile, they had time to send me a bill for that one-hour consulting session. On top of that, now I have to find a new lawyer and go through the same process from scratch.
