I had an employment case in which I retained Marvin and his associate. After discussing fees I was to work with his junior lawyer at $250/hr opposed to Marvin's $500. After I discussed the case with them they decided there was a case. Only after I had been billed for several hours, I was told they didn't read my termination letter correctly and had to "redraft" the demand letter which was another couple hours of billing. Once the letter was finally drafted, the junior lawyer had to consult with Marvin in which I was charged for both of their time($750/hr).

Once my former employer refused any sort of litigation and Marvin had charged me $2500, Marvin advised I didn't have a case and they recommended that I don't pursue any more recourse.

I consulted several other lawyers, which in turn led me to representing myself in small claims court and actually winning. I was hesitant on this review because he had me thinking I didn't have a chance, but when I received my settlement today I feel like I have to let the world know.

And to illustrate an additional point of how greasy this firm is; we had an appointment to discuss next steps if my ex-employer didn't respond. As soon as they responded, I cancelled the appointment which was for the following day. When I received my final invoice they had charged me $25 for each of the two attempts they made to contact me for the cancelled appointment.

In short, if your claim is under $50k, definitely do not use Marvin or anyone from his firm.

Marvin and his staff were very professional. They fought for me, and ended up victorious in negotiations. They even gave me "kicks in the pants" from time to time, reminding me of everything I needed to be doing to help things along. If you need an employment lawyer to fight against a large company, someone that can hold their own and not be intimidated, Marvin and his staff could be the right fit. Marvin is a straight shooter who may come off at times as abraisive, pushy, or rude... but that is not his intention. He genuinely is trying to assist the client in getting what they deserve. If you listen to him and follow his directions chances are you are likely to have a favourable outcome.
