There are little to no laws supporting employees. All laws are heavily in favour of employers (based on their information). Apparently a company that hires you full time, but doesn't provide full time hours, aren't accountable to give you hours. In fact, they can not give you work for 8 weeks without these people to get involved! What a scam!!!!!!!!!! What a sick society we live in. This company is a HUGE part of the problem.

I also had a VERY hard time understanding the agent. They slurred their words, could barely breathe, and was rude. They sounded intoxicated. If they have a disability, I may understand, but then put them in a position replying to emails and not speaking with the public. People are already in a stressful situation when calling, they don't need to deal with someone you can't understand and is rude about it.

I tried to call but couldn’t understand a thing. It just sounded like the worker on the other end had a cold or something affecting their voice. When I told them I’m having trouble understanding them, she got rude and said “my voice is fine and I believe said please don’t be like that angrily”

Be like what? How can I communicate if I can’t hear you through whatever sickness or rasp in your voice you are unfortunately dealing with?

This is extremely unprofessional and rude.

I feel my situation wasn't taken seriously enough and my case was closed much sooner than I could believe. At the end of it all my former employer won the case even though I was only paid $10.58 for 102 hours of labour MES stated that the employer was well within their right to do so. I don't think I have been treated fairly and will not be dealing with them if I can help it in the future. The receptionist couldn't even transfer me over to my case worker as she wasn't sure how. I believe people are getting paid to work there when they don't know how to do their jobs. I am very upset about my experience dealing with them.

Extremely biased organization with very poor response time (cases being dragged out for months and having to repeat ourselves), and very little reasons for their rulings. Constantly wanting to have phone conversations off the record to not be held accountable. This organization is great for employees and contractors, not employers whatsoever.

as an aboriginal medical professional i wish manitoba employment standards would start seeing aboriginals as employable. twice now ive been told that natives go to welfare and basically an employee can be fired for any reason at any time and i have no complaint. now, i have been without income for 4 months and still have not recieved an ROE or T4 from my employer or a dismissal. and yet, employment standards can only help me get a weeks pay for being dismissed without notice. but i have not been dismissed yet. its been 4 months and there is nothing i can do because there are no agencies that advocate for aboriginals. and they say canada is not racist. puleeze. this service denies aboriginals as clients.

in the end i was unemployed for just over one year...used my savings to support myself and finally found a job. i hope i can keep this one and i hope i do not get fired or dismissed or put on sick leave when i am not sick. like that last place. i finally got my ROE 7 months later and the reason for leaving was illness. i was not ill. so i did not qualify for EI or welfare.

highest suicide rate for aboriginals? no wonder. well done canada. but im still alive.
