Alexandra Kirschbaum was the second family lawyer I hired. The first one was too busy, and kept me waiting... and got nothing done.

Within less than three months of working with her, I had my first of two mediation sessions. She is knowledgeable, experienced, and compassionate with her clients. She may seem meek but that couldn't be further than the truth! She put foot down when the other party tried to play games, and took control of how things would go. I was both shocked and pleased to see her in action: I was quite happy to have her on my side!

One aspect of her professional attitude that I really liked was when she interjected, saying "This is likely to cost you more to fight for than what you'll gain". She really cares about her clients' financial and emotional well-being, which was a nice surprise. She also has a fair understanding of French (I had forms I could only obtain in French), thus saving me money to have them translated.

I recommend Alex to anyone who has family law needs. Her office is well-run, monthly invoices sent at regular intervals, and everyone works as a team. She made the painful process of getting a separation agreement much less stressful than I've seen with acquaintances.

I had hired Alexandra Kirschbaum for my family law matter.

Despite my cancer diagnosis and low income, Alexandra claimed that I was ineligible for Legal Aid and asked for a retainer to move my matter ahead. Desperate, I complied.

When I reached out to Legal Aid, I was ultimately granted Legal Aid.

Yet Alex still refused to refund my full retainer, claiming that she had already worked on my file. However she's the one who gave me wrong information that I was ineligible for Legal Aid, when I wasn't.

Alex preyed on my desperation and love for my children. As her client I recall that she was 15 minute late for my mediation meeting, and came across as arrogant and dismissing of my concerns.

I dropped Alexandra as legal counsel and subsequently found a much more compassionate and reasonable lawyer.

In 2021, my daughter was not returned to me after a visitation, which catapulted me into a terrifying family court situation I was not prepared for. I have spent most of my life living in Prince Edward Island, and the other party is living in the Ottawa area. I am very much a down-to-earth and artistic mother who finds joy in the small, special moments in life. With this being said, I am not particularly business or legal minded. This journey to the courts has been the hardest thing I have been through, which I am sure is also the case for others as well. My sister is a family doctor who spoke to her connections from the Ottawa area. They had given my sister Alex’s name as a recommendation. I tend to believe that everything happens for a reason. For me, this felt like forever, but in the system it is a blink of an eye. My trial was in April of this year. Prior to the two week trial, I met Alex in person for the first time. Her office is in a great location, easily accessible and is a comfortable atmosphere. My first impression upon meeting Alex, was that she is highly intelligent, direct, and will not blow sunshine anywhere it isn’t deserved. She took me through the entire case with the utmost professionalism. There were moments where she would speak freely in between the preparations. This is when I was able to see the softer side to Alex, she was incredibly empathetic, witty and made me feel as though my life/case was in good hands. Alex has high standards for her services, and does her best to cover all aspects and angles of her cases. She worked long hours and gave up much of her own time to ensure she was prepared. In my opinion, Alex is a blend of all the things that make her exceptional at her career. I feel that I was incredibly lucky to find her and that she took on my case. We went through the two week trial and she was methodical, patient, firm and direct when needed, soft when it was necessary. Watching her in trial was like watching an artist expertly paint a canvas. We got the final verdict of the trial a couple weeks ago. The result was everything I could have hoped for. My patience and trust in Alex through this time, combined with Alex’s undeniable skills and intuitive navigation of the legal process, made all the difference. Alex believed in my case, and she believed in me, and that meant the world to me.
