Our experience with Katherine Wong as our lawyer for purchasing a townhouse was disappointing. The biggest issue was her lack of attention to detail—two years after our purchase, we discovered that the property title had never been properly transferred to our name. We only realized this when refinancing, and it was concerning because the previous owners were elderly, which could have led to serious legal complications.

Additionally, her approach to handling our case was aggressive. She pressured us into signing quickly, using fear-based tactics, and recommended an insurance policy with an unreasonably high premium when other companies offered much lower rates.

It felt like once she collected her payment, she was no longer concerned with doing the job properly. If you’re looking for a real estate lawyer, I would strongly recommend considering other options.

During our consultation, I brought up the fact that I wanted to sellers to remove a dog house in the balcony (yes, a literal dog house that they built on the balcony with probably plywood from the Home Depot) and Katherine took the time to explain to us the differences between fixtures vs chattels. There was a possibility that the dog house was a fixture that could not be removed since it was nailed down, but she sent the request to the vendor's lawyer and helped us get that thing taken down. I do not believe many real estate lawyers would have even tried for us in this situation, especially since we made the offer without any conditions.

After the closing, Katherine also helped us to get the sellers to pay for the unpaid utility bills. If you are looking for a great real estate lawyer to help you, I highly recommend Katherine. Trust me, you want her on your side.
