While there is no doubt John and his team know family law inside and out, I was most displeased with their billing practices and unwillingness to try and settle on my behalf. Extras like billing for the Bell Canada conference call lines, or billing to use your credit card(long before this became an allowable charge in Ontario) which clearly benefits them as they have funds immediately were not explained upfront(almost 5K in credit card billing fees alone). After spending substantially more than $100K in legal fees with his team, and asking them to negotiate a settlement for 5 months prior to firing them, I was able to personally negotiate a settlement for less than what was paid to John's team in legal fees. This experience only validated my belief that "only lawyers win". Would not recommend to anyone who doesn't have the deepest of pockets.
