This is my experience at Jamal.

My initial paralegal joined the firm from a previous one and I made the mistake to follow him there as I had already invested so much in him. He left(was fired) Jamal in March and nobody told me about that until I found out weeks later.

Right away, the vibe I received from the main paralegal at Jamal was clear. Unempathetic, cold and autocratic controlling.

She constantly pressured me with retainers or statements claiming that I needed to provide instruction. Yet, if my dictated “””instruction”” was not what she wanted to hear or if I had questions, I would be deadline mailed or she would tell me that she would have to evict me from the firm. This happened on multiple separate occasions.

The matter got worse in January, after I completed an extensive disclosure. I was forced to trigger mediation, rather than waiting for the ex to answer the disclosure. Again, I was told not to question things.

Then came the final straw in March, after spending ten and ten of thousand to disclose paperwork for my company and personal financials. At which point the main paragal was happy to process payment for every time, calling me for my credit card info to scan documents for the business. The main paralegal decided to create overcharging retainers, pressuring me financially. In the amount of 60 000$ + for that sole purpose. She blackmailed me with retainers on several occasions, as her main goal was to evict me since January for asking relevant questions.

It was clearly stated to me in phone calls words for words that Jamal would prefer dealing with wealthier clients. I have this call on video.

Furthermore, she took hefty retainers to disclose the company with ten of thousands and didn't follow my instructions on many areas. Suddenly she did not want to represent the firm to ensure that I would have to seek other counsel. Once again, she charged ten and ten of thousands to disclose company paperwork… she was looking at everything and nothing to have me removed for wealthier clients. Be Aware of that paralegal.

I made the choice to conserve my financial resources. The main paralegal refused to answer my questions about retainers and decided to evict me, even tho there were retainers still in place. Simply because I asked if retainers could be applied to other areas if needed. She didnt like that question. I was informed by the Law Society that retainers could have been applied to other areas if needed. I was also informed that breaches have been done, as my ex’s lawyer was contacted on multiple occasions without my knowledge By Jamal. Lots of undocumented phone calls made.

The high staff rotation speaks for itself, nobody wants to deal with the obvious communication controller at Jamal.

The Final invoice was over 2500$, just so she could deplete the remaining retainers at their choice. No need for instruction on that end EH!
