It wouldn’t let me rate less than the 1 so I guess they get a bonus star due to google’s minimum. Never has their service been as terrible as this year. A month after I dropped my taxes off, I stopped in to see if it was done but nothing was ready to be signed yet. They were still doing taxes from May apparently and it was the beginning of October. About a week later I was phoned to come in and sign my taxes and they offered a discount due to the wait time so I went in a few days after the call to sign everything. Upon arriving for the second time, I was told they actually weren’t done and was asked if I could come back in an hour or two. Not much choice when they have all my documents so came back an hour and a half later to be told they’re still not done but now all he had to do was print them but since he still hadn’t made into the office for the day at 1:15pm they weren’t printed and no one else could do anything without him there. So now, they’re still not signed and filed and I’ve been in there 3 times, with 2 of those visits being after I was called in to simply sign the return.

I've been getting my taxes done here for a few years and they were always great but both last year and this year I waited well over a month for them to contact me... Eventually I phoned them (their phone typically goes to voicemail) to find out they were completed and waiting for me to pick up. *Another person I know had the same experience*
I'm a wheelchair disabled university student who doesn't work (so no T4), has a registered disability savings plan and a T5 for one smaller investment but aside from that, I don't have anything else added to my tax forms yet they charge me $150 for their service which probably took their tax person 10 or 15 minutes to do.
*Phoned a couple other tax places getting quotes less than half of what J & T charged me*

I dropped off my documents March 8th. My taxes still have not been filed, even though I was advised that they would be done within two weeks. It is now April 21st. Near the beginning of April I was advised they would be in touch with me by phone within a week to finalize my taxes. Two weeks later I reached out to them over email to check the status of my taxes, only for the secretary to advise me they were booked up. Since tax season began it has been impossible to reach them by phone - it only goes straight to the answering machine, even during business hours. I have been emailing the receptionist regularly to ask for updates but I am not receiving any information as to the status of my taxes. I understand that it's a busy tax season but more communication would be nice. I'm not sure if my taxes are going to be filed on time at this point and I'm very anxious about it. Could you guys please file my taxes...? Please?

UPDATE: That was fast! Jason got in touch with me shortly after posting this review to file my taxes this evening, and didn't charge anything, which was very nice of him. Bumping this review up to 3 stars. Overall I think clearer communication would be helpful, especially around timelines and what's expected of clients. Half the time I had no idea what was going on with my taxes or what I was supposed to do, whether I was coming into the office or e-signing something remotely or if I needed to sign anything at all... clients don't know what they don't know about the filing process, y'know? That being said, I work in an office myself and I get what it's like to be buried. Sometimes these delays are hard to avoid. So overall J & T are good people and clearly care about their business. I hope things go easier for them next year.

I’ve been coming to J & T for a few years and had no problem. This year is different. Dropped off papers April 12th and still haven’t heard back or follow up. It would be great for communication. I’ve seen the reviews this year and see that it’s been busy, to wait 6 weeks plus. if I knew I would have went somewhere else, I cannot wait 6 weeks it’s already May.

I filed my taxes with them for the first time this year. Jason will answer all your questions via e-mail and the receptionist is very friendly. No issues.

*Anyone out of province looking to file your Graduate Retention Program, please have a professional like J and T tax services file on your behalf and have it properly looked at before submitting to CRA**

Dropped off my T4s in March, and was told they would be ready for pickup within two weeks. Once it was three weeks later, I called the office over a few days with no answer. I eventually spoke with the receptionist and she informed me that she would send an email to update me. Once I received the email, she stated that they’re booked up and couldn’t see me until late the following week. Very disappointing and unprofessional, wouldn’t recommend getting your taxes done here.

Initially I had good service when I went in and they seemed confident they would be able to fix everything in a timely fashion. However, it took weeks to hear back about an issue that would have taken "about an hour at most". Email communication was extremely delayed. I recognize it was a busy time of the year, but simple email communicated is appreciated. A good rule is to under promise and over deliver, I experienced the exact opposite of this. After a month of nothing being done and next to no communication I was informed the person looking after my files was no longer with them and they wouldn't be able to complete my request. Over a month later I was behind and left to figure it out on my own. Extremely disappointed after reading many good reviews.
