I had a great experience with the mediation courses and the exceptional trainers. Unfortunately, when it came time for me to finish my apprenticeship, I had a very hard time finding a mediator that could take me on. I reached out to Jennifer and Jocelyn multiple times(throughout an entire year) asking for guidance and have gotten very little response from them. I am extremely frustrated and feel like I have wasted thousands of dollars.

I completed all of my mediation training required for OAFM certification with Jennifer and her fantastic trainers. My experience as a student across Jennifer’s courses was transformative. People talk about a ‘paradigm shift’ being required to successfully enter the world of mediation and consensual dispute resolution and it’s true. I experienced that paradigm shift in Jennifer’s courses because of the highly interactive, probing, and challenging roleplays. As family lawyers we often sit through continuing professional development courses that are uninspiring. I was really pleased with the quality of the course “The Working Professionals Family Mediation”. The contents of the classes were informative as well as highly engaging. The instructors are very experienced mediators and their wealth of knowledge comes through in every scenario. Over and above, I think the role-plays with the coaches and in small group settings are the jewel of this course and provide opportunities for in-depth learning. Lastly, the convenience of taking the course in a weekly format that integrated the various components required to be one an accredited mediator cannot be rated and was invaluable as a working professional.

I have had the privilege of being trained by Jennifer and INSIGHTful Mediation Training since 2015/16. I initially took "Fundamentals of Family Mediation" and was immediately impressed by the ease in which Jennifer can break down the components of mediation at a professional level. She is very comfortable in her approach and created a learning space where I was able to push myself beyond my normal comfort zone.

From there, I have taken several other courses including Advanced Family Mediation, Family Dynamics, Intimate Partner Violence and Coercive Control in Mediation/Collaborative Law, Role Play for Accreditation and a few other courses to expand my knowledge. I continue to take my IPV refresher courses with INSIGHTful Mediation and am always looking at their new offerings.

On a more person/professional level, Jennifer's wisdom helped stoke a passion for me in learning more about communication in conflict and the ways that we approach conflict, not just in family law, but also in regular day-to-day life. I have had the amazing fortune of being able to connect with Jennifer and have some incredibly cerebral, passionate, exploratory and innovative discussions about mediation, conflict and human behaviour.

For those looking for the necessary elements to become an accredited family mediation, there is no instructor better than Jennifer. Her content is ever-evolving and changing. She dedicates a great deal of time to growing her own knowledge, something that you will see rubs off when you take her training.

However, I would challenge you to see this as more than accreditation for becoming a mediator. See this as an opportunity to grow and evolve your own concept of what conflict is and how we can learn and share this wisdom with others to look for the opportunity in conflict to have conversations, to be curious and help ourselves and others create a holistic environment within which to move forward in a meaningful way. Challenge yourself to step away from the well-worn path. This is where Jennifer shines. Her open and creative mind have helped me take a more compassionate and curious approach to the world around me. I will be forever grateful to her for that.

One helpful hint: when you are taking her training, make sure to have a separate sheet where you write down the books she suggests. Jennifer will share a wealth of insight into readings that have an impact. I refer to this list often and purchase these books along the way. It has been incredible in increasing my capacity not only professionally, but personally as well.

Jennifer hosted an insightful 3-day domestic violence training. She fostered interesting conversations, shared her own experiences and left each participant with a new set of skills that will benefit our clients for years to come. I would recommend Jennifer's course to anyone interested in learning more about this important topic.
