This company is terrible. They operate like thieves while holding a business license. It's no surprise that they only have a 3.2-star rating. Once you engage their services and are under their control, they claim that you need to replace items that don't actually require it. It's widely known that they threaten to report you if you refuse to pay for updates on items they claim are damaged. I usually don't write negative reviews, but this business truly deserves to be called out. It is also well known within the industry of their dishonourable practices.

We had a poor experience with administration. We received a quote and provided a deposit for replacement of our sprinklers. After further inspection of the sprinklers we learned that less had to be replaced than originally thought. We followed up with administration multiple times after the job was completed expecting a reimbursement since we provided a large deposit. It took two weeks to receive an invoice which was 3 times the original quote. After we questioning this
another delay of two days. No apology given for the mistake. Eventually we did receive a reimbursement. However, we received very poor customer service and would not recommend.

A Frustrating and Overpriced Experience with Fraser Valley Fire Protection

My experience with Fraser Valley Fire Protection (FVFP) was marked by misleading pricing, permit delays, poor communication, and excessive costs.

The first red flag was their $148 charge just to provide an estimate—an unusually high fee for simply assessing a job. Still, I proceeded, expecting professional service. Unfortunately, things went downhill from there.

The onsite technician verbally quoted a reasonable price and timeline, but when the formal estimate arrived, the cost was over 2.5 times higher than what was discussed. Despite this, I hired them, and the job was scheduled for early March.

When work began, only one technician showed up instead of two, which was fine. The work itself took just a few hours over two days. However, when the ceilings were completed, and all other inspections were moving forward, FVFP was unable to call for the final inspection because they had not obtained their permit—something that should have been sorted before work began. After weeks of waiting, I offered to visit the permit office myself, and suddenly, their permit was granted.

When the inspector arrived, FVFP’s technician was supposed to be onsite but claimed the inspector had arrived early. The inspector immediately pointed out that no rough-in inspection had been conducted, meaning the job could not be signed off in its current state. FVFP then assured me they could resolve the issue by providing photos and an engineering memo, yet they had no photos available. The inspector agreed to review the job if an engineering memo was submitted, leading to FVFP quoting me $2,800 for that memo—an outrageous additional charge for documentation that should have been handled properly from the start.

Recognizing the poor handling and inflated costs, I reached out to several highly rated fire protection companies in Fraser Valley to compare industry standards. I broke down my experience and asked for estimates, what similar jobs would typically include, and whether rough-in inspections were standard practice. The general response from multiple professionals confirmed that I was being fleeced—many expressed shock at the mismanagement and excessive pricing.

Looking at the final cost breakdown:

The onsite technician quoted around $1,200
The official estimate from their office was over $3,000
The engineering memo added another $2,800
This would have brought my total cost to approximately $6,400
It is my firm belief that FVFP intentionally leads homeowners into situations where they are forced to pay more simply to move forward. This is not an accident—it’s calculated, unethical, and unacceptable business practice.

If you’re considering FVFP, do yourself a favor and find another company. There are many better options in Maple Ridge and Fraser Valley that offer transparent pricing, reliable service, and professionalism—qualities FVFP lacks.

Formal complaints have been filed with their licensing bodies and the BBB to warn others and help prevent homeowners from getting trapped in similar situations.

Run... All I have to say is run.

Thanks to Fraser Valley Fire Protection for another great annual fire inspection today in our apartment building! Professional efficient staff from the minute the appointment was made. Tyler and Doug were on site performing the inspection. They were polite and personable dealing with our tenants and minimized the distribution in each apartment. The repairs were made the same day and we are confident knowing that we are prepared in case of a fire.

I wanted to say that I was very impressed with your Fire Extinguisher course.
I definitely learned a few things I had not seen in our other classes for the last 26 yrs.
I have not seen info on how a Fire Ext is put together or diagrams, and more in depth about
how each type works and why, we have never had the why told to us before with another company.
A few other things as well.
Great experience with everyone from Susie greeting us to Doug and the gentleman who did
the hands on fire ext practice (sorry I forgot his name) and of course you as well Lisa.
We will see you again next year for our employee training!
Thank you!

Fraser Valley Fire Protection Ltd has been responsible for our condo’s annual fire inspection and services for many years (20+). The tech who carries out the work is really great – friendly and accommodating He does an excellent job, and not just for the inspection but also when he comes for service work.
We are very pleased with Fraser Valley Fire Protection and have no hesitation recommending them.

On August 30 2024 we were scheduled to provide electrical preventative maintenance at John Deere Specialty Products in Langley. Fraser Valley Fire Protection were there as well doing fire alarm maintenance, this is as per JDSP facility engineer. This was performed during a scheduled maintenance day for this facility. When completed we were talking to the facility engineer in the lunchroom. We were in the lunchroom by a door that divides the office space and lunchroom. The facility engineer was holding this door open and one of Fraser Valley Fire Protection's tech was just by this door on the office side of it, his back facing us, and he was eavesdropping on our conversation. As our conversation ended the Fraser Valley Fire Protection Tech quickly turns around and snarled at me like a wolf, showing his teeth! The facility engineer for JDSP also noticed this as well. When I questioned the facility engineer in regard to this incident, he said that it was either the tech Tristan or Tom from Fraser Valley Fire Protection. I'm aware that Fraser Valley Fire Protection do plenty of fire alarm maintenance for most of the jails in the Fraser valley area. Perhaps their employees are prisoners on parole? What an unprofessional business with ill-mannered employees!

Do not use this company. Look elsewhere. We had arranged a fire inspection service to occur in the afternoon so as to not affect our restaurant tenants during their busy lunch hour and veterinary clinic arranged they're operations outside of the scheduled inspection.. It was all confirmed after many emails.

To my shock the technicians started testing alarms during the busy lunch hour and when there were surgeries occuring without notice two hours before the scheduled 2pm service. Unfortunately the sudden noise startled a pet patient injuring the patient as the doctors were inserting a needle at that time.

To add insult, their response to my complaint was less than emapthetic.

Last year we got charged twice for the fire inspection. The technician arrived but didn't call us they were onsite and so left causing a second service call. After bringing this to their attention no follow up call was made to us why their technicians did not call.

They are good at making sure they bill you and get paid but service is far from professional.
