Been in contact since January about late US/Canada filing. Some deadline and no longer taking on new clients after I’ve been asking for help since January. Lady was nice on the phone but yet again have to figure out my US/Canada taxes. If your looking for clear consistant and considerate services for dual filers this is not an office that can handle It

Mary is very sharp and up to date in the US and CDN tax laws/situations as they've chgd recently with more working from home. She saved me almost $2000 and didn't even have to help me at all but did, as I had to respond to CRA for foreign tax credit after trying to do my own returns like old times. I received a call from them telling me: "Your taxes are a mess and I told you last summer that you need to better organize things!"
What she missed is that we sent her an invite to our account for QuickBooks that she failed to open. Terrible communication, personalities, and they messed up our taxes last year claiming that they hired some extra help to get it done because of Covid and the young man messed up. Not very professional when they're messing up taxes.
I will gladly take our business elsewhere.
Looking at previous reviews, they will spin this review to try and save face.

The worst part about my experience with Ferrera is that I recommended them to a number of my co-workers. Following this, 6-7 of them used Ferrera, and all received poor service, ranging from income tax filings with wrong employer names - through to some of the one star reviews/issues seen below. I made this recommendation after a drama free filing the previous year, but now look like a fool to my colleagues for recommending a company not capable of completing a tax return properly and promptly. Ferrera's name is now known through widely throughout my company as a place to avoid from their stories.

My experience was terrible, I booked the first available Saturday appointment in Febuary, and provided all my documents in an attempt to get my tax refunds as soon as possible. Ferrera did not complete the return by the promised date. Upon following up via phone, I was told I could not talk to my accountant with out making an in-person appointment during business hours - living out of the country makes this difficult for me. After repeat daily phone calls I was allowed to talk to the accountant, and provided with a new promise date which came and went once more. With just 2.5 weeks left till the tax deadline, and moths after waiting, I made it clear if they could could not provide my returns in the next 3 days I would hire someone else. Magically they were finished with in 3 days.

When I went to pick up my forms and pay, an un-labeled fee was added to my bill. When I asked, the accountant informed me "Your taxes were a lot of work. Just a lot of work." and so I would have to pay extra. This wasn't discussed before hand, but I was beyond fed up and wanted to leave.

Weeks later I got a note from the IRS that form 1095-C was not included in my return, and it could not be processed. This form was not mailed our by my work, and Ferrera failed to advise that I would need it. After obtaining the form Ferrera did file for me again, and I received my tax refund multiple months later.

In summary, if you want your accountant to: take months to file your return, repeatedly miss promised completion dates, leave you mere weeks before the deadline wondering if your return will ever be completed, file your taxes improperly resulting in them being rejected by the IRS - then this is the company for you!

I have other co-workers who used other services in Windsor, their returns were completed within two weeks for both Canada and USA for a lower price. Look elsewhere and save your self from a headache.
