Kirsten Hanson is the lawyer you want in your corner - period. Her knowledge of the law, coupled with her attention to detail, mental processing ability, sniper focus, dedication to her clients in addition to the wealth of knowledge she can tap into because of her connections, make her the incredible, well-rounded lawyer that she is.

Kirsten and I worked together for over 5 years on my very high conflict family matter, re: parenting, child support, and property division, resulting in a 4 day trial. She was always very prepared, and because of her ability to process things quickly she adapted to anything that came at us both in preparation and in trial.

I know she had other clients, but she was always there for me; she even worked through her maternity leave and holidays. I always felt heard and supported, she answered all my questions and guided me through legal processes and my misplaced expectations with kindness.

She holds herself to a high moral standard, even when confronted by a slimy opponent. I think the judge was impressed by her knowledge of the law and processes, command in the courtroom, as well as her multi-faceted arguments and caselaw to support them.

I’m writing this review before the judge has issued his verdict. I know, that with Kirsten and all of her hard work, I could not be in a better position going into trial, during, and now as we await the verdict.

I cannot recommend Kirsten enough – you’d be lucky to have her in your corner, like I was.

Terrible experience with Matthew Pritchard. I would avoid at all costs.

Matthew left me stranded a few days before an EPO hearing that I had claiming that it was best for me to hire an Edmonton based lawyer to deal with the divorce part.

I indicated that I wanted him to continue with the EPO matters but he ended our agreement leaving.

Needless to say, his office charged me a substantial amount of mine (>$8K) with absolutely no benefit whatsoever.

Mixed feelings about this law firm. Great experience on a no conflict family matter when working with Madison Brush. Really good experience, she listened to needs, sought senior counsel advice when needed and delivered an excellent agreement at a reasonable cost in a timely fashion. Certainly recommend her.

Nicole Dechaine has a good reputation and has been recommended for high conflict, litigious issues but I haven’t personally dealt with her.

Then had a subsequent terrible experience working on a high conflict family matter with Kirsten Hanson as my counsel, to the point where she was acting vindictively towards her own client. Talks a strong game and has a big ego but immediately concedes to opposing counsel and mediator/arbitrator position and goes against clients wishes. We parted ways and my new firm got my case resolved quickly and at a very reasonable cost with an excellent outcome that I was very happy with. Given the experience with Kirsten, I personally will not reengage with DBB in the future.

If you get the right lawyer at this firm, you could get experienced sound legal advice on complex issues but it’s certainly not the case for all lawyers at DBB and my sense was that they are more focused on high-net-worth clients who prefer private arbitration to settle cases.
