Cynthia Lauer is an outstanding lawyer. I found myself in the middle of a bitter battle with CAS at no fault of my own. I work in the same field. I had two previous lawyer that did NOTHING. I was deemed as contentious as I stood up for my child and know the a FCYSA. They say on the file and did nothing. Cynthia I met by accident. From the second we spoke which was just sitting next to each other somewhere she was kind, caring, listened, non-judgemental and more than anything else wanted to help me because she cared. Cynthia worked for CAS before becoming a lawyer who goes up against them in court. She knows what she is doing. She will stand infront not beside you the entire time and fight for you and your family.
She is a lawyer and as her client you need to let her do your job. She is honest and will tell you straight up and never lie to you. She will hold your hand while you cry and pick you back up and stay with you. I can truly say from the bottom of my heart there are NOT many lawyers like Cynthia and very very few like her in Child Protection in Ontario. I have my child with me as a single parent because of Cynthia and her seeing through the lies and deception and finding it, pointing it out to the judge and advocating strongly for me. I honestly don’t know where I would be today, right now without having met her. She was the Angel, the light, in a very very dark tunnel where I felt so alone, terrified and helpless dealing with such a corrupt agency. Cynthia takes legal aid clients and does NOT treat them any differently as many lawyers I went to see do. I guarantee you that if you let Cynthia do her job, listen to her advise and follow what she is telling you, you will not be disappointed, scared and will be able to hopefully put the awful nightmare involving your child(ten) behind you and begin to move forward. Thank you Cynthia from the bottom of my heart. I work in the SW field. I am not ashamed or embarrassed to ever recommend Cynthia to anyone. CAS goes after single parents who sometimes have never done a thing wrong but leave their abusive partner and then they use that against you.
