This city (and it's employees) only care about fees/money/taxes, and less about services actually provided. They nickel and dime you on absolutely everything they can. I was charged a $36.00 NSF fee because I missed a payment by one day (my husband had just left with the armed forces and I missed it by ONE DAY) .. when I called to see if it could be waived this time and explained my situation, I was told no. When I asked what the fee was for, if my bank charged them or something to that effect? I was told no. The photo radar is a huge money grab and nothing to do with safety. The planning and development is a total joke. Just look at the MASSIVE bus parking lot at Copperhaven school next to the tiny parent pick up loop that doubles as a fire lane. The timing of the lights ensure it takes me 25 minutes to drive less than 10km from one end of town to the other. And if it were not for the nice people that actually live in town, the city would be unbearable. If I could've given zero stars, I would have. I've lived all over Alberta and Manitoba, and this is by far the worst city I've ever lived in.

Construction going on and sidewalk was closed on both sides out front. I mentioned it to a staff member who was exiting the staff entrance. She took her time and helped me through the staff entrance late on a Friday. I was able to get my business done before they closed, which was very time sensitive.

This is to deal with the concerns we have in the West Grove area, traffic, Nelson raceway and that well thought out roundabout. Snow removal and there lack of clearing city owned gutters of ice. They replaced our gutters last year and now I have 4" of ice on it, no water flow. I guess it's my problem since they are giving me the run around again. Worst city ever. Lived here for years, the planning and engineering has no thought. Don't care about safety of our children, just getting what ever taxes out of us.

Spruce Grove is a city run by control freaks and feels like a dystopian police state. The populace has pretty much withdrawn with a voter turnout of 10%. The City can at times be littered with election signs but the private citizen is forbidden to post anything on city turf. Garage sales and lost pets must be posted on City website with fees to surely follow. Everything seems to lend itself to some corporate agenda with the private citizen pushed to the bottom rung. Visibility is wide open here on many of our intersections and photo radar vans really enjoy the revenue from driver error with regard to rolling stops. In fact, when you get talking to residents you soon learn that everyone here receives fines from photo radar vans. Intersections, traffic circles and road signs commonly don’t seem to follow what we have come to know as the standard and can be confusing. You notice that whenever you make your way in and around such a small city as Spruce Grove, you almost daily pass a fellow resident stopped by some brand of enforcement. Education is low and safety is a big sell here as it brings in revenue. The people here are very pleasant but I would strongly advise you stick to the highway with Spruce Grove in your rear view mirror!
