Very frustrating to work with this office. Communication has been horrible and months go by without a response to emails or calls. We have no idea where our file is in the probate process and cant get timely or complete answers. I wish we had never started working with this team. I feel trapped.

I’ve had the displeasure of dealing with them in handling a family members estate. They show no urgency, or even professional courtesy at all. They failed to follow simple direction in mailing a time sensitive document causing unnecessary delay. They failed to return phone calls and emails on multiple occasions forcing us to change plans. When you are finally graced with their presence, all but one staff member is crass, condescending and rude in both oral and written communication. They provided no in person or phone briefing or summary of the documents they created, seemingly too busy or indifferent to ensure they are understood. Not exactly what one needs while watching a family member wait for them in palliative care so they can rest well knowing their affairs are in order. I wouldn’t use them again if it was free. I’d suggest to go elsewhere. Can’t be worse.

Can't recommend. We were seeking legal assistance in the form of preparing standard paperwork as well as checking third party provided paperwork for the purpose of selling a commercial property. Both kinds of services were fulfilled and charged and paid of course but turned out to be insufficient for the purpose they were ordered for.

I visited this location to serve legal papers to Mr. Dent on behalf of myself regarding my legal family matter. He continues represent my opposition in the above mentioned family litigation and remains on a retainer as the services of an attorney are required on a regular basis for a vast assortment of legal issues.

Both he and his legal secretary were extremely rude to me when I identified myself as the opposing party and expressed that it was my intention to serve Mr. Dent a copy of the documents that I had filed earlier that day at the court registry.

After he inquired about my representation, which was absolutely none of his business, he became very angry, and yelled to me “GET OF MY OFFICE AND DON’T EVER RETURN!!”

On another occasion approx one week after the first incident, I returned a second time to serve him another legal package that I had filed the same day. I served the documents to one of his colleagues as he was not at the office. When his legal secretary heard my voice, she became very aggressive towards me, yelling at me to get out of the office and was within inches of my face. She started herding me towards the door and threatened to call the police. I waited outside in my vehicle for them to arrive for about 10 min, which they did not.

There is absolutely NO reason for this so-called legal professional OR his personal secretary to be acting this obscenely towards me. I don’t understand WHY his legal secretary was performing as his professional security or why she felt that it was necessary to intimidate me with the presence of the RCMP? I wasn’t aware that it was illegal to serve legal documents to a Law firm, the conduct of she was similar to one that would be protecting a biker bar.

I am confused by the anger and hostility that have been directed towards me by this team, and find their actions to be unreasonable and petty. I am astounded at the immaturity level of Douglas E Dent, and rather questionable behaviour regarding these general legal practices, I was merely just trying to defend myself, after all. Quite distasteful, really. Shame.

Extremely unprofessional and dismissive. Also asking a timeline they just laugh but tell you it’s your fault. They aren’t able to receive documents appropriately from other parties. Poor communication. I don’t know how they still have clients.
