Canmore is beautiful, however, local "Peace Officers" will seek out tourists and fine them for even minor infractions. Got a $160+ fine for failing to use a turn signal (on a side residential street with no traffic.). We had been warned about how clearly biased towards certain tourists they are and how it is a quick money grab for them. Honestly didn't believe it... Learn from our mistake!

Talked to Paul M at bylaws about the lack of options for car camping in winter in Canmore and the bylaws disallowing it when people are trying to fill essential services in this town and don’t want to be bled dry by the over regulated, controlled, entitled, greedy people who live here. You deserve to be short staffed in places that you need. This man talked over me constantly, then whined and threatened to end the call when I talked over him to explain my concerns. He was nice superficially until I disagreed with his excuses for answers. After 18 minutes of a useless conversation with absolutely ridiculous attempts at solutions, this idiot told me that I took enough of his time and he has other calls to answer. When entitled, self important people get positions of importance the result is always nasty even if it looks nice on the surface. I’m a believer in the bible so when it says something massive is going to happen to bring down these systems that cause difficulties and oppression for other people, all I can think is, Canmore has karma coming to it more than anything else. When you excuse your bylaws that bleed common citizens for everything you can, even hell is too good of a place for you. We get a welcome on the other side depending on the welcome we have for even the least here on earth. I can’t stand this town but I am only here to support family who are filling healthcare positions that are difficult to fill due to resort town mentality. No wonder healthcare businesses have the problems they do retaining staff and it’s not going to get better. Your solution Paul is that there’s a campground open year round in Banff. So what the hell does that do for people providing their services for you in Canmore and supporting businesses in Canmore? You have no problem with them driving back and forth in winter conditions because you don’t have to do it. The elite resort town mentality is such a blight to a beautiful area. No, Paul, I am not going to email you about the problems, because the municipality itself is the problem and it’s a waste of anyone’s time to try to advocate for change when the leaders are apathetic and unwilling for solutions that would WORK anyways and if you weren’t such a “nice” lazy entitled a$$ you could advocate for these things yourself.
