I sat back on giving this rating for a while to see how I felt after a bit of space, but now I think I'm ready to share.

Simply put - I was unhappy with the service.

The communication was completely lacking - months would go by without any form of information, update or communication. I had to reach out repeatedly to get any response. Drafts of documents were sent to opposing counsel prior to my review of them, and in those they were rampant with errors - some in the specific details (IE - calling a vacation property a rental property) and others being simple spelling errors, inaccuracies, or in one instance where multiple conflicting lines that should have had all but one deleted were left in creating conflict within the document itself.

I escalated my concerns to a partner, and while she did engage with me to confirm that communication and service speed would improve, it only took a few weeks for it to be back to how it was. When I engaged that partner again, she functionally told me that my expectations were too high, that I hadn't given clear instruction to proceed, the other lawyer was slowing things down (which maybe he was here and there, but his timeliness was a small portion of the total time it took to complete this), and basically that it was not their fault.

I am not a lawyer. I have no experience in divorce. This did not appear to come across to them as they worked as though I already knew the process. I hired this firm to represent me. I came to them with an already agreed outcome I formed with my ex prior to engaging lawyers. it took nearly 12 months to conclude a desktop separation agreement where no line of the original arrangement I gave them was contested by my ex.

While all the above issues did absolutely tarnish my experience, and will not allow me to recommend them to anyone going through this difficult process, I will acknowledge that at the very end, they appeared to be motivated to finalize the process, and the final month of work went smoothly and that they did provide one additional aspect of support (notarizing an additional document) at no cost.

Well I almost don't know what to say about Carey Leishman and her assistant Zuzana Barrett. Very professional lawer with a world of knowledge and really digs in if needed. I was far from having my ducks in a row and and managed to work through it all very efficiently and also paid attention to my cost. I really have to say I never want to go through this again but if I had to I wouldn't use anyone else. Amazing team. Remember you get what you pay for and Carey’s worth every penny.
