When I was looking to hire a family lawyer. I read many reviews. I then chose four lawyers to interview. I am so glad I did not pay attention to the negative comments that litter the review sections. We all know it’s easier to write a negative review than to take the time to share a positive experience. Of the 4 lawyers I interviewed, Mr. Martin was, by far, the most approachable so I hired Anthony Martin to act as my lawyer in my recent family law matter.

I had been representing myself for almost two years. I was faced with a fast approaching court date. Opposing counsel would not discuss the case with me. Mr. Martin was extremely attentive to my need to secure a future for my children in the wake of a marital breakdown. He was extremely knowledgeable about the law and he quickly learned my case’s information. Most importantly, he told me what I needed to hear, not what I wanted to hear. He was honest about potential results, walked me through each step and was extremely knowledgeable about how the court process works as well as typical results in the courtroom. He often worked late nights and weekends. He was aware of my limited budget and worked within those parameters. Thanks to his attention to detail, he was able to negotiate a settlement and remove the risk of court for me. Some lawyers take advantage of you, knowing that you are vulnerable. Anthony could have billed substantially more if we had gone to court. He did not. He was extremely fair and honest.

Mr. Martin makes you feel like you are his only case and he rearranges his schedule to make himself available to meet deadlines. He is quick to respond and happy to answer any questions or concerns you have and help you make choices that work with your ultimate goals in mind. His caring, compassionate manner is a necessity when dealing with this highly emotional area of law. If you are looking for a family law lawyer, I would highly recommend Anthony to anyone.

I originally wrote a good review for Mr. Martin but as time went on Mr. Martin's dedication to my case waned when my legal aid case became more work. I hesitated on changing my original review but after some time I felt it was important to share the truth.
Mr. Martin was dishonest in his reasons for letting me go as his client claiming that our relationship had broken down. In the over 2 years he was my lawyer we had one disagreement and this was because I was frustrated with his lack of continually not getting back to me especially on this one occasion where I needed an answer. Until then there was no disagreement. Mr Martin caused me to lose my legal aid finance due to his refusal to continue to work with me.Not because I had done anything wrong but Legal Aid explained for Mr. Martin to remove himself at this time (almost Trial) it was just too expensive for them to pay to hire a new lawyer as it would require a lot of work for a new lawyer to review the case. Legal aid reported Mr. Martin.
Mr. Martin left all the work of releasing him as my lawyer to me. I was told by Legal Aid in Brampton that Mr. Martin should be reported for this as he was responsible for this and for him to walk away at this point was poor as he knew the repercussions it would leave for me personally. I was unable to proceed with my case which was well represented with witnesses and the truth.
I am not a person seeking revenge in fact I gave Mr. Martin an antique coin set for his child in thanks for his work earlier on, but his dishonesty and his false accusations claiming that in one week I had sent him over 20 emails, this was true, but the reason was because we had a conversation over the email of course there were over 20 emails. I have no ill will towards Mr. Martin I have written this review hopefully to protect others and especially Legal Aid clients.

Personable. Reasonable. Professional. You may have heard horror stories about lawyers taking advantage of you when you're at your most vulnerable and needing help, or billing for every little thing... Not the case with Anthony Martin.? He was incredibly flexible to meet me at my schedule and to provide the assistance I needed and not what I didn't. While I hope to never need his services again, wouldn't hesitate to recommend anyone working with him.
