2nd UPDATE:
I would never recommend ADL Paralegal or Brittany Colley.
Brittany represents Waterloo Regional Housing and has deliberately stalled filings, withheld information, and prolonged disputes instead of resolving them. She repeatedly threatens urgent action, then admits filings âwonât be today or tomorrow,â while my belongings and mail remain held hostage.
She has referenced withdrawn criminal charges in communications to imply guilt where none exists â a grossly unprofessional tactic that has caused unnecessary stress and harm.
Instead of working toward fair outcomes, she uses intimidation, delay tactics, and misrepresentation. This isnât just bad service â itâs conduct that erodes trust in the legal profession.
If youâre a tenant, be cautious. If youâre hiring representation, find someone who acts in good faith and respects their professional obligations.
UPDATE:
Thank you for your response, Brittany. While I understand that you are framing your involvement as that of an opposing party, the issue I raised is not about representation but about professional conduct and ethical obligations under the Paralegal Rules of Conduct. Even in an adversarial role, paralegals are expected to act with honesty, integrity, and fairness.
My concerns remain:
You made statements that were factually incorrect and contradicted by clear evidence.
You mischaracterized my actions, including claiming I ârejectedâ housing offers I never declined.
You disregarded safety risks by suggesting I attend alone with police who had already caused me injury.
You failed to approach the matter with the professionalism and impartiality required, regardless of which side you were on.
This is why I have escalated the matter to the Law Society of Ontario for review. My review was not about a dispute of facts between parties, but about whether your conduct met the ethical standards expected of licensed paralegals.
I will allow the LSO to make its own determination, but I stand by every word of my review.

Unprofessional Conduct & Questionable Ethics
If I could give zero stars, I would. My experience with ADL Paralegal â specifically Brittany Colley â has been one of the worst professional encounters Iâve ever had.
She presented herself as acting within her paralegal scope, yet demonstrated either a shocking lack of knowledge of the Landlord and Tenant Act or a deliberate disregard for it.
Made repeated false statements about my rights and the status of my belongings, despite photographic evidence proving otherwise.
Ignored clear proof that half my possessions were missing before the police broke down my door, and that I have documented injuries from that incident.
Attempted to frame the situation as though I ârejectedâ housing offers I never declined â this is demonstrably false.
Failed to act with the neutrality and professionalism expected of someone in her role, instead seeming to side with the landlord and repeat their version of events without verification.
Used her position to pressure me into unsafe conditions, suggesting I go alone with police who have already harmed me â something no competent legal professional should recommend.
This isnât just poor service â itâs conduct that borders on gross negligence and possible misconduct under Law Society of Ontario rules. Iâve now begun preparing a formal complaint to the LSO and am reviewing whether ADL Paralegal itself has oversight mechanisms for clients to escalate concerns about staff behaviour.
If the owner of ADL reads this â you need to address this matter publicly and seriously. Ignoring it will only confirm to others that your office condones this kind of behaviour.
