This Ministry allows an old mode asphalt plant to operate beside public without separation distance in Toronto since 1999, the pollution is discharged to people directly. Ontario has Environmental Protection Act in 1990 and land use guideline D in 1995, the law and guideline prohibit asphalt plant so closed to people, they still permit this asphalt plant to operate here. They also refuse to review the permit they hand out to this plant although we apply for under Environmental Bill of Rights. They clearly know the pollution causes adverse effects to surrounding people, but they do not care. They let the pollution damage our environment and hurt public members. In my opinion, this Ministry is the worst Environment Ministry in this world. I do not know which big city in this world has such old mode asphalt plant operates beside people, except in Toronto.

Citizens got the Ministry involved in a case where Welded Tube Canada was allowed to move into a populated area in rural Welland. City authorities were simply worried about jobs with zero consideration for its citizens. For years the company pounded the area regularly with loud clanging pipe noise. Quality of life in the surrounding area was greatly affected. Finally the ministry allowed the company to come up with a noise abatement plan that took 5 years to render. The plans implementation is to take place over a 12 year period. So if you wait 17 years we’ll address the problem? In all my years I have not seen anything as ludicrous as the ministries handling of this situation. A joke from start to finish. Gives new meaning to the word inept!!
