This was a deeply upsetting and stressful experience that could have been easily avoided with proper communication. When I booked my appointment at this notary office, I was not informed that there would be dogs on the premises. Had I known, I could have asked for accommodations or chosen a different office, as I have a severe fear of dogs.

When I arrived, I walked through the hallway to speak with the receptionist. While I was talking to her, two dogs suddenly approached me. One stood in the hallway, blocking my exit, and the other began barking at me. I was completely frozen with fear and unable to move or speak for 2 to 3 minutes.

During that time, Brenda Redman did not remove the dogs. Instead, she commented to the receptionist that I was “acting scared,” and implied that my fear was the reason the dog was barking. This was extremely unprofessional and insensitive, especially given how visibly distressed I was.

Eventually, Brenda took the dogs into another room—but then asked me to go into that same room where the dogs had just been. When I hesitated, still shaken, she said, “This is what it is. I have dogs. If you want your paper signed, come inside.”

Even if only a few people have fears or allergies related to dogs, it should still be taken into consideration in a professional setting. A simple notice or heads-up in advance could make a huge difference for clients like myself. I left the office feeling humiliated, dismissed, and extremely disappointed. I would not recommend this notary office to anyone who expects a respectful, accommodating environment.

I've never written a bad review in my life. I'm a very reasonable person. My notary Joy Becker retired, she was fabulous. Brenda was a disaster for me. I had her remove my mom's name from title, and she released the funds for my refinancing as part of that. She released to much money, I knew it, and her wording about it being sent to my account. She did nothing to alleviate my anxiety, and simply urged me to sign ,saying basically, oh don't worry it will get looked at. This money and house is all most of us have. No time to be casual. In her role she should have more understanding about where funds are going, to argue her end is the legal piece may be true, but a really professional person has extra knowledge and covers their bases. Getting the amount wrong was careless of her and genuinely stressful for me. My initial feeling was accurate, I should have followed my gut and gone elsewhere. Never again. I did not feel cared about and competency was questionable.
