Mr. Balmer and Kristina( admin and or perhaps wife as welll? ) Either way they have given me hope after.being manipulated by a certain agency by use of intimidation, threats that if I got a lawyer things would get much worse and take alot longer, all of which were lies. On a recommendation I was referred to Kosky Balmer. Specifically, I was working with Brent Balmer. From the first meeting I knew I was in good hands. Right out the gate Mr Balmer took ownership of my case and also provided a clear picture of what to expect. Bottom line is he delivered a big win for me and his strategy, and no nonsense approach was very much appreciated. Mr Balmer is a bulldog when it comes to the law. I would highly recommend.

Brent Balmer is lazy and unprofessional at best. He agreed to take my custody/support case and sent me off with papers to fill out. I dropped them off completed on the next business day. After a couple weeks without a returned call or email I showed up at his office. He had lost the papers I submitted, so I had to watch him stumble through them with me in person. At this point I was becoming nervous about him representing me, but had already given him my legal aid info. After a couple more months of ignored calls and emails he finally got me a court date (after I sent an email pleading for help as the lack of child support was leaving me without enough to cover rent). I just found out this morning (24 hrs before court) he has not served my ex yet!!! He is looking to have this postponed. As soon as he found out my ex was located in NS he basically gave up on my case. In the 5 months Brent dragged his feet my ex has tried to take the kids (he showed up at my door at xmas and asked to have them for "20 mins" knowing I don't have a custody order to make him return them), and I haven't seen any child support since summer. I have fallen far behind on my bills, my credit ruined and now being evicted, all while this lawyer refuses to help get me . He had my ex's address since I hired him and has not made a single attempt to serve him court papers. I am filing an official complaint with the Law Society of Ontario and showing up at court tomorrow to request more time to serve my ex and to change lawyers. I believe that since Brent knew the financial hardship I faced these 5 months while he did nothing, is unethical and bordering on negligent. I will pursue making sure he doesn't treat other people who count on him this same way. And had my ex abducted our kids and took them to NS at xmas like I believe he wanted to, this situation would have been even more devastating. The only silver lining here is that Brent is so lazy he never even claimed my legal aid certificate this entire time, so I can hire someone who is willing to help me. BEWARE, if there is any complication (like the other party residing in another province) Brent will likely start to ignore you like he has done to me!

I took Brent Balmer’s client to court on a motion on August 10th. Brent Balmer is a real amateur who I walked all over in court. I self-represent in court and I am not a lawyer. Brent Balmer had filed his affidavit response in the Supreme Court, Kitchener Branch on my motion, without an affidavit of service. I mentioned to him just outside the court room that he was breaking court rules in filing documents in the record without an affidavit of service. Brent Balmer bragged to me about not following the court rules, and he did so right into an audio recording on my iPhone. I submitted disciplinary proceedings to the Law Society of Ontario with the audio recording right after we left court. Brent Balmer didn’t prepare for court. He looked uncomfortable and was nervous in front of the judge. The judge forced Brent Balmer to negotiate and agree to all my provisions in a court order prepared by me in Supreme Court, Kitchener Branch. Brent Balmer's client wasn’t there, and he didn’t let his client know that he had agreed to provisions in a court order on his client’s behalf. His client broke the court order within 24 hours. I contacted his client to explain what Brent Balmer agreed to on his client’s behalf, because his client wasn't aware of what he had agreed to. Brent Balmer was the lawyer I dreamed to go up against. So, if you want to hire a lawyer who doesn’t know what he is doing, doesn’t follow the court rules, and makes decisions on his client’s behalf without letting them know of the consequences, Brent Balmer is your kind of lawyer.

Mr. Balmer wasted my time and made my case terribly complicated by not taking actions on time. He also told me lies about submitting my paperwork to the court. My case could be finished in less than a year took more than 5 years with so much complications and cost just because of his unprofessional behaviour. In general you don’t feel you have him on your side, when having him as your lawyer.
