I was facing serious charges under the CDSA and CCC, with the Federal Crown seeking a 20 year sentence, built entirely on circumstantial evidence and constitutional violations. Despite the clear flaws in the case against me, the crown was moving forward with the prosecution (leverage charging).
Lauren challenged the prosecution head-on. We proceed by way of Garofoli applications, and successfully secured cross-examination of the affiant on the ITO (a critical win). Halfway through the process, I decided we should pursue an 11(b) application, as my right to a trial within a reasonable time had been violated, we were 17 days over the Jordan ceiling.
Lauren never backed down, she was always ten steps ahead, anticipating every move and crafting an airtight defence. Her strategy was flawless and her attention to detail was unreal.
