I called in with an inquiry and received a call back the very next day, they explained the process and when I could expect a call which came from intake the following day and a paralegal the day after. I dealt with Dante in intake and Lucia a paralegal. They were polite, diligent in getting my details and then listening to my explanation when they called. I can only talk to my experience but I felt heard, respected and appreciated the engagement.

Wasted two days worth of my vacation hours.

I was recommended this place as my local legal help by the LTB. I call them exactly at 9 and the lines are completely full. I had to leave a message for them to call me back.

They call me back 3 hours later saying to call them back, but no extensions provided. I call them back but the lines are full again.

Fine, this is what to expect from free services. So I take a day off of work and call them 9 am again. The lines are full again. I wait 3 hours for them to give me a call back, and it's just the receptionist. She says she can connect me with a lawyer, but it can take up to 24 hours. So I take another day off of work, and wait in front of the phone for the entire day. No call, no voicemail.

The next day morning (36 hours later), and a receptionist calls me and tells me my case has been closed because I didn't pick up the lawyer's call, or responded to the voicemail. I told them I had been in front of my phone the entire day, and there were no calls or voicemail received. They replied there was nothing they could do for me, because they don't give out extensions or schedule calls. Then they basically asked me to take another day off work for a phone call that may never come. I said no thanks and bye.

I know that this is a free services, but they have wasted my money, and the time I could have spent looking for an actually functional legal advice services. It's highly disrespectful to be treated like your time is worth nothing to them.

Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Yolanda Song today. In spite of her not being able to work work with me directly in my opinion, Yolanda delivered a great customer experience.
I found Yolanda to be extremely knowledge, well versed, personable and empathetic. I sent her a follow up email and asked her to call me to discuss my case. To my surprise, within minutes my phone rang . I appreciated her responsiveness and her ability to connect with me relatively quickly to deep dive and understand my concerns. I wrapped up the phone call, empowered, equipped and with peace of mind including several resources, options and contacts. In addition, Yolanda sent a follow up email to recap our conversation which was a nice touch.

So disappointed by the intake process here. I needed legal help, and the intake clerk seemed keen to look for and take offence from anything I said. She literally yelled at me to "not get excited" when I asked questions to CLARIFY things. Bullying behaviour, threatening behaviour (if you don't comply exactly with the way I want things I will hang up) This is a clear abuse of power in a power over situation. Hiding behind anti harassment policies to deny services serves no one. To offer to deny service to members of disenfranchised group - the type of people seeking and desperately needing help from a legal clinic is a real low. If working the phones is so difficult and fraught for the clinic, I suggest it offer a self-directed online intake to skip this step and save everyone's time. Treating legal service like a "treat" that only a few can deserve at the whim of a gate0keeper goes against every I was raised as a Canadian to believe in. For shame.
