I was confronted with the need to probate a will, and had very little time before I needed to travel. Cheryl saw me quickly, handled my needs quickly and efficiently, and kept me informed of the situation as things moved through the court. I was transacting a mortgage, having sold my home to move to a 55 Plus Rental unit. Tania organized my appointments, set up my initial file, and answered all of my questions in a timely manner, mostly by email. Working with Cheryl Pearson at the St James TRL office on a will that I was an executor for was great. She was efficient in going through the process for requesting the probate, explained all aspects of the process well, was empathetic, insightful, trustworthy and gave me good advice and suggestions. The probate process was completed in a very timely manner. I have since referred friends to her for probate and to update their wills.

These lawyers are deceptive and misleading. I called to ask for advice about how I should handle an estate issue I am having, and they told me they’d help me at a regular hourly rate. I showed up at the office and explained my issue at which point they told me they won’t offer advice unless I hire them to handle the estate. The required cost went from hourly to a substantial percentage of the entire estate. I called them unprofessional and walked out. I then called a couple of different lawyers one of whom answered my questions for free. They call the first kind of lawyer an ambulance chaser, though the first thing I thought was ‘used car salesman’.
