I am a victim of domestic violence. After my first domestic assault, I suffered from extreme CPTSD. Years later, I engaged in a friendship with another man who was much larger than me however he was a couple years younger than me (which police later used against me). One night during a typical hangout, an argument pursued and I didn't want to engage so I said I was leaving. He (the actual perpetrator) decided that he had the right to unlawfully confine me.

I had asked to leave several times but was unable to do so as the perpetrator was blocking the doorway and refusing me an exit. I tried to push my way out at which point I was shoved so hard I toppled over a computer chair landing on a cold, hard cement floor resulting in bruising all up and down my hip and side of my body. I was immediately triggered to the memory of almost being killed by my former DV (domestic violence) partner and all the terror and trauma resurface - at which point I knew I had no choice but to fight just enough to reach the door and get OUT!

Why didn't I call 911? My phone was dead.

I raced home to the only place that I had some sense of security, which is when I was finally able to plug my phone in and it started ringing like crazy from a private number. I didn't want to answer because I was certain it was the perpetrator however after about the 9th call I answered- just to simply say "Do not call me again, do not talk to me anymore!", however it was actually a police officer who asked me to come down to the location I was previously at to speak with him.

Naively, I did so and it only resulted in me being put in handcuffs and shoved into the back of a police cruiser. Apparently the perpetrator called and said that he wanted to press charges of assault against me!

Not only was I horrified, humiliated, confused by this treatment/action and completely re-traumatized but I was also in college when this happened, trying to get my degree - at almost at a year's end of a 2-year condensed program. A degree which would have been completely null and void (essentially useless) if I had a criminal record or criminal charges. All of my money was tied up in my schooling and my (at the time) husband's prior schooling fees.

Being terrified and having absolutely no idea how to pursue my next steps. A certain person in the courthouse referred me to Don White. She assured me that he would have the dedication, knowledge, eagerness and expertise to get all of my charges withdrawn and she couldn't have been more correct.

Mr. Don White worked tirelessly for me over the next nine months to get all of my charges not stayed but completely withdrawn. He was very honest and upfront with me from the beginning that we were working on his time and that he would not always be able to accept calls or questions because he would be busy trying to pursue the withdrawal of all my charges. After a 9 month fight he got all charges completely withdrawn and advised me that I could and should pursue a counter charge for unlawful confinement.

Unfortunately, at the end of my 9 months I was so overwhelmed and stressed with school, finances, marriage, family and everything else that was going on in my life that I did not pursue those charges but I wish I had.

Regardless Don White is an incredible lawyer and he is not unprofessional because he doesn't answer his phone. He is EXTREMELY BUSY DOING AN AMAZING JOB AT HIS DEDICATED WORK making sure that people's lives don't get unlawfully RUINED!! He is nothing short of professional, dedicated, honest, hard-working, and excellent at what he does.

If you or someone you know has been unjustly charged for a criminal act Don White is the the right person for you.
