Let’s be brutally honest—my school district is a mess. Every year, it promises progress, but delivers disappointment. From crumbling infrastructure to clueless leadership, from overworked teachers to underfunded programs, this district is failing its students in ways that are unacceptable. It feels like we’re stuck in a broken system designed to check boxes, not to educate or inspire.

Let’s start with the basics: the buildings. Walking into some of our schools feels like stepping into a time machine—one that lands in the year 1975. Ceilings leak, bathrooms stink, heating barely works in winter, and there’s mold in the corners of classrooms. How are students supposed to learn in an environment that looks and feels like it’s been abandoned?

And don’t even get me started on the administration. They’re more focused on public image and pointless policies than actually improving education. Every year they roll out some shiny new “initiative” that’s supposed to change everything, but it ends up being another waste of time and money. Meanwhile, students are falling behind, and no one at the top seems to care. When we speak up, we get ignored. When teachers speak up, they get shut down.

Speaking of teachers—most of them are doing the best they can under impossible conditions. They don’t get enough resources, they’re stretched way too thin, and they’re forced to teach to standardized tests instead of teaching things that actually matter. The district piles on more responsibilities every year but gives them no support. No wonder so many great teachers quit.

Then there’s the favoritism and inequality. Some schools in the district get all the attention and money, while others are left to rot. If you’re not in a “top” school, you’re treated like you don’t matter. It’s disgusting. Every student deserves a quality education, not just the ones whose parents have connections or money.

Let’s be clear: this district doesn’t just have problems—it has deep-rooted dysfunction. It’s not just about bad policies. It’s about a complete failure to listen to students, to support teachers, and to treat education as something more than a political game.

We’re not asking for perfection. We’re asking to be heard. We’re asking for schools that are safe, clean, and well-funded. We’re asking for leadership that actually cares. We’re asking for a future where students aren’t just numbers, but people.

Until this district gets its act together, I’ll keep calling it out. Because we deserve better—and we won’t stay silent while they keep letting us down.

One day, a bus is going to crash on an ice day, and the children that where inside
will probably not go to school anymore.
