in order of meeting them for different reasons

I came to be a NEW resident of Owen Sound in November 2021 from west end Toronto for a lacrosse opportunity my partner of 36 years was offered as General Manager for Major Series Lacrosse (MSL) North Stars team that was held up for 2 seasons after moving here by Brampton Excelsiors' politics. I want everyone to know this was BEST DECISION we made for a multitude of reasons but most of all, this community really welcomed us with open arms. Enjoying a lifestyle to fit & meet our needs as we are not far from retirement. City Hall staff have been most helpful to me and I watch City Council Meetings on Mondays at 5:30 P.M. to stay informed about what's new. Also, it was exciting for us to learn RogersTV offered a channel 53 after losing our channel 10 in Toronto; MARK PERRY has been kind enough to cover lacrosse games from Durham & Meaford (Steve is a colour commentator alongside of Spencer who is a very good broadcaster even with a signature mohawk look) This review is long overdue and I didn't realize I could write one so I'm happy to take several minutes to share with Google Maps.

Here are a few photos of me participating in different events⤵

Complaint regarding marriage license coordinator at Owen Sound City Hall – July 7, 2025

I had an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience at the City Hall of Owen Sound’s marriage license office. Despite the advertised “one-minute marriage license” service for a fee, the coordinator in question, Ms. Kazarian, acted in an unprofessional, dismissive, and arguably discriminatory manner.

My wife, her brother, and I visited the office first in the morning of July 7th, 2025, around 11:00 AM. No staff member was available to help us, even though we could see Ms. Kazarian sitting and chatting casually with a colleague. When we politely approached her for assistance, she turned her chair away and said, “I’m busy and can’t speak right now,” refusing to engage, help, or even schedule an appointment.

Later that same day, I returned to the office again with my wife after 1:00 PM, hoping to follow up as no one had contacted us as promised. However, we were again met with the same dismissive attitude. Ms. Kazarian again refused to speak with us, insisted she was “too busy,” and continued her personal conversation, clearly ignoring our presence and request.

Despite the fact that she had the ability to at least schedule us for a future appointment, she made no effort whatsoever. Her tone was disrespectful, and the entire interaction felt intentionally unwelcoming and discriminatory.

This repeated dismissal and lack of professionalism caused unnecessary delays, emotional stress, and significant inconvenience during an already important moment in our lives. I sincerely hope that the City of Owen Sound addresses this issue seriously and takes the necessary steps to improve staff training and ensure respectful, efficient service to all members of the public.

they gave me a ticket for parking on main street while I was in the office on main street to fight a ticket. Owen Sound has no quit, it's a fightin' town, and I respect that! Owen Sound is the Neck Tattoo of Ontario!!!!!

Why doesn't the parking maid ticket cars in the lot behind the Owen sound city hall? You ticket people without passes in all other lots/streets - those parked to work jobs as well. But apparently city hall workers are exempt from paying the fees the rest of us peasants pay. I've been monitoring this for weeks; meter maid just skips this lot entirely. This is a lot outlined by your bylaws as having to be paid to park over 5 hours or have a parking pass. What gives? Just another example of corruption in Owen Sound politics?

I have lived owen sound for many years, since coming from the bigger cities , I am finding that the harbour is not a safe place to sit and think , the vulgar language and the nasty things that happen for no reason are sad like hey who owns the harbour walls from east to west,it it safe ?

I took the Wiarton to Owen Sound bus and city bus from there several times and it is great service for some one like me who is visiting as well as people who do not drive.
Bus was always on time, drivers on both routes were exceptionally kind, courteous, and helpful to passengers. Thank you and continue your service

I love this city. The arts community here is just humming, music, literature, painting and other visual arts, poetry, and drama all have very healthy presences in this community. There are a very balanced number of big box stores and small shops ranging from the ubiquitous stores found everywhere to the bohemian, one off shops. Too many good restaurants mean too much choice, and again there are unique, family owned places and lafg, branded chains to choose from here as well. I'd write more, but just thinking about this city makes me want to get going and do things here. Bye.
