If I could leave a negative amount of stars I would. DO NOT bring your business here. Yves in particular is completely unprofessional in his correspondence, either not replying at all for months at a time, or when he does respond it is immature and overly emotional. He wasted months of our time, he was hired to file personal estate taxes and never even reviewed all the financial documentation we provided. When asked for a status update he said he "doesn't have time" to work on taxes. I wish I could be this incompetent at my job and still be employed. A total waste of time and resources, save yourself the headache and hire a different CPA.

We have been loyal clients of this firm for around 20 years now. We have always accepted paying a little more for our tax reports here in exchange for the sense of security we have had going through BDO; plus we liked the people at the Rockland branch and felt truly appreciated by them. In February of 2022 my father passed. He was the last of our four parents to pass so sadly we had estate experience with the other three. Given that he was the only one to pass in Ontario we never hesitated and simply asked that BDO Rockland prepare his annual tax report and his terminal report. Let me be clear: All of the actual estate accounting was done by our legal team so this was only for his 2021 taxes and his terminal report along with the two months of 2022. The final bill was far more than we would have expected and the service was terrible (e.g. person failing to answer calls even though in office, being asked for information we had already provided, long delays to return voicemails or e-mails). Despite the high price, we figured it was still worth the sense of security and that perhaps the person "assisting" us was new and/or had their own challenges to deal with. This past December we were shocked to receive a further bill for almost a $1000 for my deceased father's file. I called to see if this was accurate and not some sort of mistake; and was told that essentially it was all for billable hours. Given that our previous estate experience was all in Quebec I researched this here in Ontario. A downtown Ottawa firm provided a broad estimate for preparation of a deceased person's terminal CRA report of "X" as the lowest average amount and "Y" as the highest....we paid 3 x "Y" with BDO Rockland for this service. I can't begin to explain how betrayed we feel over this matter. For 20 years my wife and I would have rated our satisfaction with BDO Rockland as five stars, but that evaporated in the space of less than two years over this experience and we will sadly be taking our business elsewhere.

A few years ago I needed a good accountant to help me with my brother's estate. My business accountant explained that I required an accountant that had experience with estates and suggested BDO.

BDO provided excellent service, clearly explained legal requirements, and kept me in the loop on every aspect. Everything was taken care of to my complete satisfaction.

When my dad passed away last year, I took my mom to BDO to help her with the estate accounting requirements. Everything was done exceptionaly well, my mother was kept informed every step of the way, and all paperwork required for the CRA was handled. In fact, she was so pleased with the experience that she retained them for her personal accounting needs.
