I retained Cassandra of J & N Paralegal Services upon having a tenant who was late on rent payments for many months before defaulting entirely. Things started off quite positively; with exception to having to send a few reminders, they got the filing done, served the tenant, and got me my hearing dates quite quickly. However, and unfortunately, things did take a bit of a turn; upon the tenant being served, the tenant committed to vacating the unit at the end of their term. I then approached Cassandra to advise of my intentions to change the locks to the unit if in fact the tenant does leave as promised. Although Cassandra's advice on this was quite vague, she did state that I am okay to change the locks as long as I "know for certain that the tenant has left." On the day of the end of the term, my property manager attended to the unit and found it to be completely vacant and free of all personal possessions. The unit keys were also left behind. Ample photos were taken to validate these findings. Provided that it was very evident that the tenant had indeed moved out, the locks were changed. Shortly after, I received an email from Cassandra stating that there was a "breakdown in communication" between us (appeared to be insinuating that I had acted contrary to her advice) and proceeded to terminate her services to me, essentially leaving me stranded. As Cassandra being a paralegal (someone who I would expect to very carefully analyze situations before coming to conclusions), I felt this action to be impulsive. Although I cannot speak for the rest of Cassandra's clients and/or on her other areas of practice, I personally and in my own opinion, felt highly dissatisfied with the services received and most importantly, with the way I was treated.
