Went in today to get a document notarized for my school and was helped by a very “pleasant” woman named Joe. They charged me $70 for a simple notarization — fine — but the real issue is the incompetence and rudeness I experienced.

The form I needed clearly states that I must submit a notarized copy of a PRIMARY ID. I brought my birth certificate as my primary ID and my BC Services Card as secondary/photo ID, per the instructions. Instead of notarizing the birth certificate, they photocopied and notarized the BC Services Card. When I asked why, they said it’s because it has a photo — but again, the form clearly states it needs to be the primary ID, and only requires that a photo ID be presented, not notarized.

When I tried to clarify, Joe told me to “read the instructions” and that it wasn’t her job to explain anything. Excuse me? Isn’t the point of going to a notary to ensure legal documents are handled correctly? I asked why a birth certificate would even be listed as a valid option if they refused to notarize it — she shrugged it off and told me to contact the college.

So I did. The college confirmed I was right: the notarized document must be the birth certificate.

Unbelievably unhelpful and unprofessional. If Joe doesn’t want to explain anything or provide proper service, she shouldn’t be working in a role that requires accuracy, clarity, and professionalism. I won’t be coming back and definitely won’t recommend this place to anyone.

Ada was recommended to me by my realtor. We had everything in place for her to complete the sale of my condo and the purchase of a home. Last minute, she cancelled on me leaving me to find someone else. The closing date was December 18, 2019 (a Wednesday). She proceeded to tell me that is their holiday hours and that's why she couldn't do it? I would have thought I would have been told when I decided to use her that those dates don't work for her but now I'm having to pay someone more money which is super frustrating.
After I posted this Ada reached out to me to assist me to find someone else and to give me a discount on using her for the purchase of another home. I am revising my review based on her reaching out to me to try and make things right.
