Very disappointed with the service my spouse received on a builders lien. He's out the money owed from the work he did and out the money this firm charged him so in total out $6500. I looked over his fees charged from this firm and they are absolutely outrageous. The major price issue is the meetings between the associate asking the lawyer for directions and him being billed for both of thier time. If the associate wasn't able to handle this simple task without a lot of guidance it shouldn't have been tasked to them or it should of had reduced rates so the associate could learn. But the associate learning on the clients dollar and the bill for a simple builders lien being over $2k is outrageous. Also fyi for future clients with a low value builders lien of $4500 owing from the builder call it a right off and save yourself the $2k we spent in legal fees to get absolutely nothing out of this but more debt. The lawyers here will pull you in saying these are easy win cases blah blah blah and in the end the only one out more money is the one who got ripped of by a builder.

I would like to share a positive review about working with this organization. Andrew Trider and his team are excellent and professional. They followed our procedure step by step and patiently accompanied us through the purchase of our first home in Canada. He is always on call and answers all questions.

I found that the law firm fulfilled their duties, but I encountered a significant issue with the handling of my original documents. They were supposedly sent to me but got lost in transit, and I eventually received a set of photocopies. My mailing address is in an apartment complex, with no risk of theft. I requested the firm to investigate whether the originals were still in their possession, or if they could provide certified true copies, but I never received any response. If you value the receipt of your original documents, I would advise against hiring this firm.

Update: Towards the end of last year, Weldon McInnis Barristers and Solicitors got in touch via email, letting me know that my original documents were available for pick-up at their office. I'm still a bit fuzzy on what exactly went down. Seems like they didn't mail out the documents before, which was the initial hiccup.

While it's a relief to have my originals now, the lack of clarity on the whole situation, the initial inconvenience, and no apologies so far leave me with mixed feelings, warranting an additional star.

Initially, the law firm seemed competent but later on, their behavior was highly unprofessional and unethical. As a consequence, I lost one of my businesses due to their inability to act promptly. Most of the time, they operate in their own loop, leaving you in the dark until the fees are due. It's not a reliable firm, especially if you require a lawyer who can assist you promptly.

This law firm seemed great at the beginning. After we moved into our new home we found that there were a few items that the lawyer had overlooked which will end up costing us thousands of dollars. I tried reaching out to our lawyer, Anthony Nicholson for help which resulted in getting completely ignored.

I eventually lodged a complaint with the Nova Scotia Barristers Society to see if I could get some assistance but sadly that didn't do anything. I reached out to main reception several times for assistance and was guaranteed a call back multiple times that never happened.

Even reaching out to another senior lawyer in the firm (whom I believed was the managing partner) got nothing more than promises of call backs which again, never happened.

I would not recommend this firm at all if you want a transaction that is done correctly or a firm that will help you if things go wrong once you've moved in. They take your money and run.

I called Weldon McInnes about a year ago about a domestic case and hired Alex Embree as my lawyer for that issue. Alex was calm and explained the process that I was going to go through. He handled everything. I only had to show up for court. I gotta say that Alex is damn good at what he does. I won my case and am proud to have him as my lawyer. Everyone I met at this firm was a pleasure to deal with. I highly recommend Weldon McInnes to anyone. I have only good things to say about them

I like going to talk to my lawyers... Matthew is really great and so is Nicole. That's my opinion now... but I still haven't got my bill yet lol... who knows...
