Our daughter had a very hard time opening up to anyone until we found Katie. She was absolutely wonderful and made major breakthroughs with her. But then we received a cancellation notice for all upcoming appointments with a very cryptic email about the business "parting ways" with Katie. Our daughter had no warning or closure and as a result, has decided therapy with anyone else is simply not worth her time. This will set us back months of breakthroughs. Very unprofessional.

The worst experience. The counselor I had used to sleep while I was talking on my sessions. I reported this situation, and canceled all remaining sessions. It’s been almost a year that the owner was supposed to called me… NOTHING! the worst customer service and follow up. Basically I spent around 6 sessions… time and money to the garbage.

Lack of commitment, bad business, I don’t recommend that place.

So disappointing.

While the therapist we met with seemed very competent and sincere, this place is heavily faith-based. Fantastic if you're into that sort of thing, but they do not advertise or allude to this in any way on their website. It felt rather misleading walking into their waiting area to be greeted with multiple faith-based signage, and then more in the therapist's office.

I do understand therapists are trained to be non-judgemental and openminded, but coming from the very progressive background I do, and with the values and lifestyle I have, (the therapist was not even familiar with the term "intersectional feminism") it was a painfully obvious mismatch.
Had I known all their therapists are faith-based, I would never have booked an appointment here in the first place. It would have saved us $135.00, an hour of our time, and the hour of the therapist's time.

After getting an automatic notification about our next appointment, I sent an email to cancel the appointment and let them know our experience was disappointing. I was expecting at least a response to my cancellation email, but it has been over a week and it seems no response is coming. An apology, or at the very least, some kind of acknowledgement would have been appreciated...and probably prevented me writing this review.

I thought long and hard before I posted this. I looked for a place that had trauma based Councelling, as I have dealt with many years of abuse. I believe it was the second or third appointment, I noticed the constant attempt to muffle the yawns by the therapist. I honestly thought the first time, maybe the person had a rough day/night, everyone has them. The next session was very much the same and it was uncomfortable always trying to look away when he were attempting not to yawn. My 7th session I watched him falling asleep while I was talking, it was downright insulting and terribly uncomfortable, as this was the third time in a hour I noticed him struggling to keep his eyes open. The final time, as I was talking, his head tilted back slightly, eyes rolled back and one eye actually closed while the other one half closed and you could see the struggle for him to keep his eyes open… I emailed asking for all of my future appointments to be cancelled and explained why. I received an email back stating that he had 2 young kids who don’t sleep well, he was sorry and offered me a free session. I declined as I had already wasted hundreds of dollars. I never received any correspondence from Tina Smith. I would have at least expected something. Haven’t heard from anyone there since. Anyone in a dangerous head space, this could be devastating and have devastating consequences. This is supposed to be safe place and I would NOT recommend it to anyone.

I have been to few different places for therapy and I have found Tina J. Smith to be the least intimidating. I don't normally enjoy going to therapy, but since I have started here I have found it pleasant and easy. I found it so helpful that I also sent another family member. Highly recommend 👌

My daughter is currently receiving counselling services from Tina J. Smith & Associates and her experience has been excellent (I am posting this review with her permission). Two years of pandemic life has been incredibly stressful on our youth and I am grateful that we have such qualified therapists available in Woodstock to provide supportive mental health services. Grace Karugu is our therapist and she has been able to efficiently help my daughter identify and work on key issues and that has helped bring some immediate relief. EMDR therapy is also an amazing therapeutic tool that they provide (when applicable) which can access healing in ways 'talk therapy' alone can not. I know that all therapists are stretched to the limit right now during the pandemic, so I appreciate all the more how responsive the team at Tina J. Smith & Assoc. has been.

I’m currently seeing an intern therapist, and 100% satisfied with my choice as she is very helpful, genuine, and empathetic. I’ve been to five sessions so far, and will continue as she is an excellent match for me and my situations.

This company has been delisted since Aug./22. Insurance providers will not cover your visit. Still no update on when this will be resolved. 👎👎💁🏻‍♀️
