As a trained paralegal, I understand the demands placed on law firms and the busy nature of their work. However, as a software developer and business owner, I have concerns about a six-business-day waiting period for service, especially when it comes to critical matters like intellectual property and a person's livelihood. While I believe this law firm is skilled at their jobs, I wish my experience was different.

Claire stepped in to help me when my world was at its worst. Within the first few weeks Claire began to pave my way to freedom. I have one of the most high conflict files in Family Law. I self-represented for 8 years, and while I held my own, a lot of things got away from me.

I contacted Emery Jamieson and originally had Claire Klassen as counsel to guide me. She was exactly what I needed while going through the trauma that Family Law tends to bring. She kept me in check in a sweet and respectful way while taking very careful and detailed notes.. of which I appreciated so much because it doesn’t waste the limited time I had with her. Her advice and guidance is invaluable. She set me on the right track until I had personal informations laid against me.. and then she found the perfect counsel to guide me in both Family and Criminal.

Since then, I have retained Jeremy Hoefsloot, Rory Baker and the fantastic Claire Spicer to help me handle my file. Jeremy is almost as phenomenal as Ms. Klassen was, Rory had my back twice in a rather intimidating situation to jump into and he rocked it.

But Ms. Spicer.. with all due respect to the other three.. is my hero in all of this. Her level of competence in high conflict situations absolutely astounded me repeatedly. My first counsel a decade ago had said to me that my file is like nothing she had ever seen in 25 years, and my 8 years of self representation was a nightmare. But Claire.. she took everything I gave her and made sense of so much without me having to explain it to her. Even with my case being pushed into her vacation, she was still taking care of things for me, and I know that she was not obligated to as even attorneys deserve vacations away from the chaos. She’s been compassionate, brilliant at her job, incredibly thoughtful and insightful, has explained every process to me, and doesn’t make me feel like a victim.. she makes me feel empowered. And as a victim of IPV/DV that is 13 years deep into a Family Law case.. there is nothing better than being represented by someone like that.
