First meeting he takes an hour to chat. All at your expense, $600/hr. He does NOT encourage the parties to communicate, he just sits there and listens then says "that reminds me of...". Again wasting another hour and charging you. Never during 4 years has he encouraged communication between the emotional, hurting pair. He is a waste of time for mediation because he does nothing to help the 2 open up and talk. Isn't mediation about getting the parties to settle on their own ? Arbitration for him is guaranteed income. To split house contents he wants each to submit 1 or 2 sentence about why they should have it. So for about 300 items in your house times 10 minutes (easily) for him to write a decision equals 3,000 minutes. 50 hours @ $600/hr = $30,000 for HIM !!! You'd think he would encourage 2 people to each take a turn and pick an item. But no, he wouldn't get all that money. That's besides the cost of your own lawyer ! And make sure you bring your own lunch. His $600/hr doesn't include anything other than a coffee, water or bag of peanuts. Be prepared to have his arbitration turn into a criminal trial where "evidence" must be submitted. STAY AWAY, HE'S USELESS.
